This is the convenient answer that everyone latches onto. That’s not the reason Haiti is Haiti. It began pre revolution and the exploitation was exasperated immediately after their revolution. Country split into two different countries on paper but in reality 6 different countries at once. The identity of being Haitian has never been an uniformed identity. They collectively have no loyalty to each other. While technically it’s not an ethnic problem in Haiti it certainly is. It’s just not really examined in that way. More than 65 percent of slaves in the revolution were born in Africa. One day they are Yoruba, Twi, Wolof, the next day “Haitian”. That never rectified itself. You add in the historically predatory mixed raced class, the slaves born on St. Domingue and the Arabs that arrived post revolution, you have 4-5 different groups that are vastly different with no loyalty towards each other. No civic understanding or duty. The revolution was out of necessity not out of an altruistic belief of one nation, one people. On paper, sure but not in practice

Based on the history of U.S. intervention in Haiti, I can understand why some in Haiti might think U.S. military action is a possibility, but that ignores the political reality in America right now. America has become more isolationist since the disastrous military adventures in the Middle East. With a new presidential election coming neither of the parties will risk putting troops in harms way for humanitarian reasons.

I have visited other Caribbean countries and are amazed and saddened. That country, Haiti, really needs to turn away from voodoo, and turn to God. It needs the people to take care of it and love it. They destroyed their forest, and now are in other countries trying to do the same thing, and more. That place doesn't just have problems, it has a problem that is directly the fact that the people need to change their way of thinking. The world may not know this, but the rest of the Caribbean that is dealing with the great burden of the weight of immigration, knows it. People have absolutely no idea what some countries in the Caribbean are going through from Haiti's problems, from Haitians. They are sneaking into these countries, taking land, building illegally boldly, destroying the forest, great violent crimes by them, gangs in used to be places of peace, overcrowding Hospitals especially by deliberately getting pregnant to stay, becoming aggressive to the people, even trying to take over places. Basically, trying to make other places Haiti too. It is very bad, and Governments are trying desperately to figure out what to do about them. Health care is suffering in these countries because of Haitians. They even go to the US claiming to be people of these countries, saying they are from there and are not, watch out for people who say that they are Bahamians especially, rarely they are from there or family are not. People are basically risking losing their country under them. Yes, there is mercy for them, but when it comes to Haiti, there needs to be great mercy for the rest of the world.

Haitian needs to rebuild their Miltary army

I disagree. In order to have a strong military one must have a strong defense fund. The government has no funds to pay soldiers salary and military hardware. Haiti needs foreign military assistance primarily the U.S , France and Canada, but not the U.N.

I've asked, and at least two people have agreed -- there is no longer a Haiti to speak of. The government is ineffectual, the gangs have total control, people who can are attempting to leave in droves. There is a question of whether the people who still call themselves Haitian would not be better served by being part of another country, and whether the gangs care enough to try to come together and form some sort of provisional interim government, or whether the territory formerly known as Haiti is essentially ungovernable.

@@BeeKaychick1 debt has been payed in 1940. That's a long while ago. Lots of countries started with huge debts and all odds against them but they made it work. Blaming on a debt (albeit an unfair one) only helps the ones who made this mess, cause it excuses them of their responsabilities.

It’s crazy I own 2 businesses and have a strong family network, but I live in cali and don’t own my own home and feel when I do is the time to have a kid. And I just suppose statistically I’m literally around 1 in a million or something. How could you live in a 16 sq meter tin hut with 2 kids and no husband. Maybe she has no idea about cause and effect. I literally don’t understand why people do this themselves and kids, it seems like some really animalistic human behavior - like they aren’t fully rational yet.... maybe someone has an answer

In solving the food crisis which has always affected Haiti, they should grow millet. They should ask India to help them establish millet exemplary farms. India is helping Guyana to establish millet cultivation and Haiti as a CARICOM member could be assisted by Guyana. Millet could be grown on the marginal exhausted land. India and Guyana are willing to help. CARICOM and Haiti should act.

Shining example that in fact the 10,00 Haitians that presented at the US border should NOT have ever been retuned back to Haiti as we are invaded by Central American gangs. Haitians were more than eligible for leaving a dangerous area controlled by gangs with evidence of life threatening risks. Its been a proven breakdown in their society.
