A bit confusing. Haitian money is just Gourdes - whatever the conversion rate is at the time. The Haitian “dollar” is an informal, street concept that’s just equal to 5 gourdes. So if the exchange rate today is 134 Gourdes to the US dollar then $10 = 1340 gourdes which informally = 1340/5 = 268 Haitian “dollars”.

Still wondering what is the purpose for the gourde if it has to be converted to Haitian money. Or is it a word for tax. Pardon my ignorance I'm not Haitian but I have Haitian friends.

OMG! That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!!! No wonder why my ppl or so confused. Do ppl in France or Canada or any other country go through this nonsense? STICK WITH THE CURRENCY OUR COUNTRY ISSUES. Haiti does not mint dollars (USD), we mint Gourdes (HTG). Stick with what IS for our country. I love the video Marie💗. I'm simply challenging the issue. It made sense when 5HTG = $1. Quit taking aim at a moving target. Much of the world currency have a symbol. What is the symbol of our Gourdes??? Too much time is being wasted on converting Gourdes into HTD. The value of the money represent itself, don't further complicate simple stuff. LET US EMBRACE OUR GOURDES, that is for us. Dollar is not our currency. Do not make believe our GOURDES are magical Dola after mathematical gymnastics. STOP WORSHIPING everything else, but ours. Our psyche is completely screwed up. KEEP MAKING THESE VIDEOS MARIE, love you gurl💝. Sorry for the rant.
