Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the internal arts. I have been practising Tai chi and Baguazhang for nearly forty years and continue to learn, your videos not only help to confirm some of my understanding but also add new ways of helping to integrate the knowledge into my practice of the arts. Blessed be,thank you.

Thank you for the inspirational content. I was occasionally practicing circle walking without the slide and all of my Xing Yi had Bagua relaxed orientation, your teaching has been very clarifying. Now I need smooth soled shoes for outdoor circle walking sliding practice, because socks on carpeting doesn't work.

Actually, it is nice on the beach, but I also do it on grass - like today for Bagua and qigong - or on laminat from time to time.

Wonderful breakdown of the stance of no mind followed by the initiation of awareness leading to action. So many times we see these subtle movements and we may regard them as insignificant.

I've recently began Sun Style Xingyi. I am eager to learn more but I only have one class a week. Your videos are really informative and helpful as I don't just wish to attend class and then do nothing to improve for the rest of the week till the next class. Thanks a lot!

Funny, this Xingyi-opening looks a lot like what we do in our Wudang-wuguan. Between the wuji- and the Liangyi-stance we but also a short mental priming exercise in five steps to anchor, center, smile, calm and expand before moving. Again, a very interesting video. For me, especially the historical and entomological aspects have been the most useful today.

Hi Master Yang, Once again I enjoyed looking at the video (I even looked at it twice to ensure I wasn't missing the details ;) ). I was wondering about the "functional" objective of the opening form. At 22:33, you mentioned making sure that the mind & body must be ready for practice. I was wondering if the purpose of that opening stance aimed about setting up physically for the routine (e.g. that movement with palms seems to help sinking the shoulders and get into the structure) or mentally (e.g. clear up your mind before getting into the routine), or maybe both. Also, about ideas for future topics, if ever you want to expand on the current topic, it would be interesting to hear about the weapons form opening (for instance the sword in Xing Yi). Finally, it could be interesting to include the word "intention" in the list of words you want to define formally; when you use that word do you simply refer to mentally focus on something? Are the slight physical adjustment movements you mentioned for instance in the taiji phase of the opening form also considered part of "intention"? Thanks a lot for all these insights!! Best, Fred

Hello Fred, thank you for your question. My answer to your question is that different way of practice will have a different result...keeping a clear and relaxed mind in practice will have more benefits. Yes, weapon's beginning form is a good idea.
