Say what you want to say about the 90% of Bs Kung fu that have been taught around the world giving it a bad reputation,but the real Kung fu is not only beneficial for fighting but most importantly your health.Look at how most fighters and peoples who only train hard styles end up in their older years,some can’t walk,talk or even remember what time of day it is because of brain damage,but a real Kung fu person that was properly trained will benefit form that training throughout his whole entire life.

Note that his power comes from his stability in posture. He does not bend his torso at any time and risk disturbing his central equilibrium. He is a pillar moving around and his stability is more optimized than his opponent, and he can sense it via touch and vision and effortlessly exploit the weak spots.

I have much respect for Hsing I (Xing Yi) style as my MA teacher was a master of this. You cant see the real power in these techniques unless you feel them in person done by a high level practitioner. IMO this style is REAL self defense, not meant for squaring off and prolonged fighting, but for REAL self defense this is among the best that exists. But it also involves "internal" training - again not seen in this video. My huge thanks to this lineage and for the upload.

To the untrained eye, they can't see it and very true about sometimes needing to feel it even though they would lightly only strike with 10-20% of what could be delivered. I tried receiving a stabbing elbow with a coaches strike vest on, that was like 5 inches thick with shock absorbing gel & padding & still got driven hard and felt a little winded & shocked that it still penetrated through all that! Damn!

Shuai Jiao exists in all these arts. The techniques of Taiji, Xingyi and Bagua were all configured around Shuai Jiao. Chin na is also in there. The purpose of the forms is to hide all of that goodness within them, so the teacher can decipher them. But most teachers do not know this and those who do impart the knowledge to those who show worthiness. My teacher is a master of Shuai Jiao, Taiji, Xingyi and Bagua from Taiwan.

You're aware these are identical in execution to Judo techniques, which is only degree of separation away from the BJJ that everyone seems to agree is sooooo efficient... I have a radar up for nonsense TMA as well but in this video I really just see straightforward self defense. Not unlike good krav maga.
@bengquan782 жыл бұрын
@@ADFerrizzi hardly identical but some similarities- I’ve trained both xingyi and judo extensively. Takedowns like these ones require set up and leading footwork against a non compliant opponent
@ADFerrizzi2 жыл бұрын
@@bengquan78 clearly that's true. Kuzushi is massively important. But why assume this guy can't do that? It just seems like we've all been trained to have a huge bias against CMA that does more than just border or racism. We aren't the only people who know how to throw a punch/use off balancing techniques/grapple/etc. I have trained in both of those arts too and while there is a lot left to be desired in most Xingyi demonstrations, that doesn't mean that very serious practitioners (who probably don't spend much time posting on any social media we would see or competing in any sport fights we have access to, if they desire competition at all) don't exist. And this guy just looks like one of those very serious practitioners. I dunno. I buy this one. And I'm saying maybe you should too.
@bengquan782 жыл бұрын
@@ADFerrizzi I have trained in Hebei, Shan'Xi, Henan and other places in China with Xingyi practitioners. There are of course some good ones who I have seen actually spar/fight for real, however the vast majority are very good at giving demonstrations but cannot apply technique in a less controlled environment. I suppose I am just jaded and I have seen much more applicable skills in other sports/arts.

@tdmmcl15322 ай бұрын
the reason why you don't see these methods in modern fighting is because they just don't work with real fighting. These are "demonstrations" that require static compliant cooperating participants. real fighting, real fighters do not cooperate are not static and thus attempts to actually use these methods would become a liability: exposure to striking, kicking, takedown, and grappling. about the ONLY benefit from learning these methods is to train the body for fast reaction behaviors...but those can be learned with more capable and effective combat fighting methods...like boxing, striking, ju jitsu, grappling, take down defense, etc. Kung Fu is a spectacle sport. no one can fight effectively using kung fu.
@silentnoise7132 ай бұрын
What do you define as modern fighting? With pads, ref, padded gloves that take away feel, and a bunch of rules that say you can’t hit here or there? If you think about it, it is modern fighting that has turned into an entertainment sport. A real “fight” should not last more than seconds, minutes at best. Kung fu is absolute not for sport fighting. They are trained to attach your throat, fingers, other weak point, not duke it out in a prolonged 10 round match that gets stopped to judge for points. Problem with these king fu fighters is that they are too focused on technique and do very little conditioning. Not many are willing to destroy/condition their bodies like the old ways. These schools/disciples don’t really fight/class with other school so they don’t have any real application under pressure/threat - in short they got soft. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqGphKqHr9mjqrM @2:40 - Dan Inosanto explains what you call "demonstrations". As people start to civilize, they are left with the technique (no application) and the audience (and practitioners!) don't really know what it is "REALLY" for. As Sanda (modern kung fu, kind of like kick boxing and adapted to modern rules/safety gear), start to take root, there are some master that explain the purpose of these movements and how it can be used (what we see as demonstrations).

Real fighting. Ok. Ive trained for many years in karate and MMA. I workout out regularly and retain some very basic techniques + strength training and some speed work. I carry a pepper spray which is legal where I live and it’s always at hand. If Im ever threatened the pepper spray is a part of my system as is my cold steel walking stick in my car. In my home is a steel buckler and cold steel kukri. No rules, no ref and you cant expect a violent guy to stop simply because he’s knocked you down. Guile is essential. Anyone who has trained seriously in MA can see that this teacher is the real deal, and he might carry a force multiplier 😏
