Meet Kobus in Auckland city on a Saturday night out on the town, a huge human made the bouncer look like babies...

Great story! Love it.

Hated Kobus when he played against the Free State, but loved him when he played for the boks. What a legend and such a positive person.
@frontrowrugby2 жыл бұрын
Yes his positivity is infectious. I think one of the hallmarks of the great players is when rival supporters hate them when they are playing against their team! You only really "hate" them because you know how great they are and what damage they can do to your team.

As a proud Kiwi and ABs supporter. Kobus optimizes the respect and humbleness that the Springboks and All Blacks share. Absolutely love Kobus.

Great to have an All Blacks supporter watching my videos too. Welcome to this channel! Boks v All Blacks is a wonderful rivalry. One of the best in all of sport. Thank you for your comment.

@@frontrowrugby Peter. Been watching alot of your videos. I am loving your content. Especially the interviews with the old school Springboks. Like many Kiwis my love for the Springboks rivalry goes back to the 1995 RWC final. I have done a few rugby Tik Toks. I hope you will have a look one day. Much love and respect for the South African people. I have a few friends over here in NZ.

@@skylakirk323 Thanks Skyla. I really appreciate that. I'm not actually on Tik Tok but it seems perhaps I have a good reason to go take a look!

Montagu of all places, hey! Kobus was a wonderful player and an even greater human being. It was a pleasure to have him on and I'm so happy you got value out of the show too. Thank you as always for commenting - it means a lot.

He brings back one of the most exciting era's in my life...such a fantastic vibe in the country back then. Kobus served me breakfast once...I didn't complain about the under done eggs!

Thanks for the comment, Seamus. It was a very exciting time to be a Springbok fan. It's actually incredible what the Springboks have done for South Africa since winning the first Rugby World Cup. Under done eggs! Say it isn't so? ;-)

Great great interview. I think these interviews are all building up very nicely. There is overlap but each ex-bok players adds more context as well as a unique perspective. Peter, please keep these up. I love the suprise of who gets interviewed next:)

Gosh Francis, you're gonna make me blush! Thank you for this beautiful comment. It really does mean a lot knowing that the stuff I'm putting out there is adding value and maybe even a little bit of happiness to other people's lives. Wahaha, yeah, I think that's one guy we will not see on these streets!
@frontrowrugby2 жыл бұрын
If there's enough demand then sure. At this stage the focus is solely on retired Springboks coming on the show to talk about their Bok careers. I am looking at expanding that a little bit for the World Cup so a guest like Jonathan Kaplan is certainly not out of the question.

He mentions John Williams not picking him. He should have gone on 1992 end of year tour but Williams chose three locks he worked with at NTvl. ( Adri Geldenhuys, Adolf Malan, Drikus Hattigh ) . Even calling up a fourth, a NTvl B lock as a replacement, Phillip Schutte. Got dropped after his debut because French negated his front of lineout efforts.
@frontrowrugby Жыл бұрын
Not sure if you've watched it yet, but you should check out the latest video interview with John Williams. He reveals why some of the selections were the way they were. Might make you reconsider your opinion on him as a Bok coach. Also puts into perspective what the administration was like in those days. Interesting stuff.
