Brilliant! I absolutely enjoyed the subject matter and delivery, it is obvious that the speaker not only knows and is one with the subject matter but enjoys what he does. Physics was not my favorite subject in college although I took some physics courses. But between Neil deGrasse Tyson and Hakeem Oluseyi I have a new interest for physics...well Astrophysics

this guy is from the ghetto (or so i've read). he carried a gun, probably did some stupid shit.. the environment encouraged him to be a "bad ass"... but he overcame ALL that and became a brilliant scientist who does important work around the world (trying to get telescopes to poor areas of the world etc). imagine how many more brilliant minds like his are wasted in poor neighborhoods in America... he got out because he was lucky and discovered a passion, but most don't.

Dark energy is an illusion caused by the gravitational distortion caused by the gravitational fields of distant galaxies. Gravity from distant galaxies has a redshift effect on the frequency of light they emit in the same way that gravity can bend the path of light. Hence no cosmic acceleration, no dark energy, no un accounted for dark matter, no big bang, this universe is eternal, no beginning or ending. Cosmic background microwaves are just distant galaxies who's light has been gravitationally distorted beyond your visible spectrum. Galaxies exchange and recycle energy and birth new stars out of old dead ones.

I would still consider Tyson to be a scientist. I don't know if he currently does research but he plays a more critical role in the public face of science, public relations. Lets face it, the vast masses are clueless about science. Some don't understand how basic research can lead to in the field applications, i.e. technology. On the other hand, Tyson understands scientific method, has the training and background to be considered one.

Congratulations to Mister Oluseyi, I am a white man sorry but I have to say: I've never seen a black scientist, I hope this will inspire many other people of the same race, I really liked the explanation. I wanted to be honest because internet can expose the truth (good or bad) of all human beings.

God created Space, Time, Energy and all there is. God formed us in our mother's womb, before we knew or ever saw light. He sustains humans with His breathe of life. When he takes His breathe, man is lifeless and falls to the ground leaving all knowledge, question and possession behind. Acknowledge the Creator. He alone deserves all the glory.

I'd say you're half right, Xenthoid. If you define "scientist" as someone who actually does science, only Gates qualifies; Neil Tyson does not do science. Gates and Oluseyi do real science and have real discoveries. Gates is a giant. Oluseyi is newer but has many scientific accomplishments already; search on "oluseyi nsbp ted" to see a summary of his work.

You must don't get out very much. I guess you never heard of Neil degrasse Tyson astrophysicist...or for that matter, Sylvester James gates a string theorist.

This has usually been my argument with people. You probably won't argue with a biologist on the true nature of protein folding (because you most probably haven't read anything detailed about it), so why would you then argue with a cosmologist on the true nature of the origin of the universe? these are both topics you need to have read up and understood to either believe or disbelieve. You just don't disagree because you don't like it.

"God is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche, and within it a lamp; the Lamp enclosed in Glass; the glass a brilliant star, lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive neither of the East nor of the West whose Oil is well-nigh luminous though fire scarce touched it. Light upon Light! God doth guide whom He will to His Light." Chapter 24, Verse 35 - The Holy Quran

Where does time, space, and energy come from? How can THAT be created?...That assumes that it MUST be created. Something somewhere/somewhen MUST have already been in existence. Otherwise, THAT would lead to an endless/infinite wild-goose chase after an imaginary problem. There are only two answers to your homework assignment: 1) "Something" was already in existence. 2) "Something else" was already in existence.

ok, but whose to say that this "grater(sic) power" is intelligent, or personal? Okay , let's say it is intelligent, why does the universe necessitate a "creator", but this alleged creator (who would be infinitely more complex than the universe) doesn't require a creator? some logic u have there

Not only his delivery, but his trite theories smack of what's pop with the Dawkin's crowd, not real science, too much philosophic conjecture.

Don't do science such a disservice. Matter does not not make light. Energy makes light. And energy is also the force behind changing one form of energy to another. Not all matter is energy, and not all energy is matter. Just because some properties/characteristics are shared, doesn't mean they're the same thing. And just because E=mc², doesn't mean that they are the same thing. That entity cannot exist on both sides of the equation at the same time. Once it's converted from one to the other, it's no longer what it used to be. Building blocks don't put themselves together. Energy is required for the assembly. Therefore, the universe requires more than just building blocks to exist. If you say that energy itself, is just another "building block", then it will just dissipate to a more stable equilibrium, which gets harder to tap/harness as time goes by. Have you ever considered the possibility that "mass" is just the decayed-state of energy? And that, all matter is just the cesspool of decayed energy (which will continue to decay until it can't decay anymore)?
