Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tenseien, Hakone, Japan - Onsen ryokan known for its garden and buffet

Hakone-Yumoto Onsen has the largest number of hot spring facilities, inns, restaurants, and souvenir stores in Hakone, and is crowded with tourists every day. It takes about 85 minutes from Shinjuku, Tokyo, by Odakyu Express train. Tenseien is famous for its large open-air bath, large garden with waterfalls and shrines, and buffet dinner. The walls of the ryokan are decorated with colorful works of art and there is also a game corner, which is very exciting. The large 17-meter-long open-air bath offers a great sense of openness. You can enjoy the hot spring bath while admiring the rich nature of Hakone. There is also a private bath which I also used. In the garden, there are the "Tamadare-no-Taki" waterfall, "Hien-no-Taki" waterfall, "Tamadare jinja shrine". "Tamadare-no-Taki" waterfall is approximately 8 meters high and 11 meters wide. It is so named because the water cascades down like a beautifully detailed "tama-sudare" (bamboo screen). The sound of the water is also beautiful, and the waterfall is decorated with shimenawa (sacred straw ropes). "Hien-no-Taki" waterfall is about 20 meters high and 10 meters wide. It is named after the spray of water that billows up like smoke. "Tamadare jinja shrine" is the only branch shrine of Hakone jinja shrine and Kuzuryu jinja shrine. It is believed to be a shrine for family safety, prosperous business, and good fortune. In honor of the Kuzuryu jinja shrine's "match-making" merit, tenseien offers a specially made ema (votive tablet) in the shape of a heart. Carp and ducks in the pond provide a welcome respite. You can buy food and feed the ducks. The dinner buffet offers a wide selection of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, cakes, fruits. At the live kitchen corner, you will be served freshly prepared dishes such as crispy tempura, sushi, and teppan-yaki, which the chef fries right in front of you. This was my second stay at this onsen ryokan. I would definitely like to visit again.
