i don't know why, perhaps its the incorporation of eastern instruments, but to me this is like the perfect Vietnam war song. it is somber, tragic almost in its feeling, like it brings you to a place of darkness and loss, a flaming village burns in the distance while the monsoon rain pours down on the face of a war-worn GI, he looks up and sees only a shade of light from the moon. that's the image i picture when listening to this hauntingly beautiful piece of music, i can only make sense of its feeling in a visual motif.
