Cool. This is about a 15 minute drive from my house, but I've never actually ridden the trails.

Looks like some nice trails. Have you done Cannock yet? Luck

I am really surprised not seeing you use your road bike here :-)

I would be terrified to bike that fast round there solely because there's always someone walking their dog even in the most remote areas and I don't want to plough into them! :P

You should. Good downhill section on the Monkey Trail. The problem with trail centres though is that they have a lot of visitors and the trails get degraded. However, Cannock is not bad and has some viable Downhill bits. Luck

I've done both on cx bike last year on the run up to the start of the season, no problem. It certainly wasn't as fast as on XC and there is allot of stuff to screw your typical 28mm tyres on if you aren't cat-like. Its was good practice tho.

How do the colour ratings of the trails relate to the difficulty of them?

more fun than riding on the road ?

Red and blue are both definitely do-able on a cross with cantis! To say you 'need' sues and discs for this trail is laughable
