Lzzy Hale, Arejay Hale and the rest of Halestorm took home the award for Best Hard Rock, Heavy Metal Performance for "Love Bites (So Do I)" and they made sure to thank their fellow nominees and gave props for their influence.

I love some metal heads get all flustered over a Hard Rock Band getting a Grammy for Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. Sure Halestorm isn't Heavy Metal (unlike say Avenged is or In This Moment), but Halestorm is the best modern Hard Rock group out there and they deserved the grammy more than the other nominees!

I still don't understand why people are mad about Halestorm winning and comparing them to metal bands. The category was hard rock/heavy metal right.? The winner was gonna be either a hard rock band or a heavy metal band and Halestorm won. No reason to put down their music or compare them to metal bands when they're obviously nothing alike. Be upset at the Grammy folks who decided to put the two together for a category. It's like comparing pop to R&B (Pink to Beyonce) Guns and Roses to Metallica. Pointless to compare.

Because the Grammys have such a laughable disregard for Metal, that they have to take THE ONLY category where they deign to even acknowledge their fucking existence, mash it up with *hard* rock. And then compel the entire metal community to just facepalm their heads off their shoulders, to watch a band as irrelevant and shitful as Halestorm to prance up in the face of the scene. The wanktastic clowns at the Grammys would be better off taking metal out of the Grammys altogether, and carry on with their mainstream, backslap circle jerk, than to fap themselves that this Nickelback of metal holds a fucking candle to the REAL giants of metal. This is better than a joke. It's a fucking insult to a genre.

Did you read the title or listen to the video at the beginning? The academy consolidated two categories into one: Hard Rock/Metal. Halestorm is hard rock, so it was therefore a valid nomination.

Major congrats Halestorm! I'm a bigger hard rock fan than metal, and I do agree they are separate genres and should be awarded as such. That being said, nobody can touch Halestorm in the hard rock category. They are the best thing that has happened to hard rock music in a very long time. This band works their asses off and have been for a long time. Love Bites just got them some mainstream recognition finally, and a well deserved award. Keep up the great work Halestorm! :)

The award is for Hard Rock/Metal. No, they're not Metal (though they are fans of it and weer very gracious and supportive to the other nominees) but the band is very much Hard Rock. I don't agree with the merging of the genres either as they were the only Hard Rock nominee while the others were Metal but it is what it is and Halestorm is a worthy band. They're freakin' epic live! They're hardly new to music but they're simply the newest and youngest of the nominees and happened to win.

They are the most down-to-earth band I have EVER had the pleasure of getting to know. They genuinely love their fans and what they do. Their talent is their own...they are unique. Nobody can can honestly say that that woman cannot sing. She has vocals to match (or go above) other popular female artists. Stop hating on these nice people and give them the credit they deserve.

I know its hard to understand why Halestorm is the winner. But they have great hard rockin songs and put on the best live shows. They have paid their dues touring since they were teenagers. Rock -N- Roll has changed so much in the last 20 or so years its great to see the youth bring back great music. Before you judge watch some of their videos and listen to their music they Rock. They are exactly what the industry needs we just might get our radio back.

Would have been great to watch them perform....saw them 3 times last summer within 3 months....all in the Midwest area....these kids work their tail off and deserve the props....they put on a great show and have hard rockin songs...shame media doesn't respect the genre enough to televise the actual award....google carnival of madness rain out concert at Toyota park.....HALESTORM closed the cut short show in a down pour ....Lizzy didn't want to get off the stage !

Well for one thing, they're not as huge as some of the more publicized bands and artists who have someone with a lot of pull backing them. Secondly, did you notice that there were a lot of empty seats? I'm not in the music biz, but evidently these awards were handed out well before the "big-name" acts showed up. I also don't put too much stock in awards to validate artists, but if this somehow legitimizes them (and other true artists) in the public's mind then I'm all for it.
