I was a single mom of a 13 month year old girl when I met my hsband in November of 1997 at a house party. I was content, happy, and didn’t care if I was ever gonna meet someone. We went out to dinner a week later, knew instantly we would be together for the rest of our lives. We moved in with each other in December of 1997, were engaged by January 10, 1998, and got married on October 24, 1998. I credit Chris Stapleton with bringing black people to country music his cover of Tennessee Whiskey set in motion not only the rap community but the heavy metal and even punk rock fans to the country music community where they have discovered not only Chris Stapleton but lots of other great country artists and discovered the story telling and everyday topics that we can all relate to I came up in the 60s and am a classic rock fan but for me the music pretty much died around 1980 and that's when I turned to country music but it does my heart good to see so many other people starting to listen to country and also classic, southern and folk rock

This past November, the 6th, my ex wife contacted me. We haven't talked for almost 8 years. She asked my permission via one of my daughters. I thought about it for a few days and then told my daughter to give her my number. But for now I didn't want to talk, only text. My reasoning was that I still had strong feeling for my ex. I have never stopped loving her since I fell for her in '95. So we texted back and forth for about a week. Well I was ready to here her voice. I asked her to call me that evening. She said she would call me around 8pm, after she fed her mom, uncle, oldest son Elijah, 23, and her little son Angel, 8, and got settled down for the night.. So just before 5pm I was surprised to see her number on my caller ID as my phone was ringing. I answered and my stomach was flip flopping and I felt like a young boy talking to his high school crush. I told her it was way earlier than she said. We laughed. We ended up talking for about 10 or 11 hours that first night. Catching up, laughing, crying, and realizing we weren't through with this thing called US. Our story was starting another chapter. And this chapter is the best. She has been clean for almost 6 years. She has a great job, she owns her own home on a decent size piece of land, has a newer nice car, and rebuilt her life. I was so proud. Let me tell y'all this, she was a completely different woman, and even though I didn't think I could ever love her more than I already did, I was wrong way wrong. Everyday I love her twice as much as the day before. I am truly grateful and blessed to have her back in my life. STARTING OVER, just like the song said and is titled. And I hope one day that she will be my wife again, but whatever, I am smiling from ear to ear. And now when she tells me she loves me it feels way better than the past. It is genuine, it is unconditional, it is passionate, it is LOVE. And can't wait to see what the next 30 years brings us. As long as she is by my side life will be grand, guaranteed. Lucky penny and 4 leaf clover. That's what love is all about. Guess I ranted on long enough. But wanted to share and also explain how I interpret this song and what it means to me. Thank you both and thanks Mr. Stapleton.
