Half-Elf 5e - Races for Dungeons and Dragons

I believe this was published before Tasha’s Cauldron of everything made the half elf arguably one of the strongest races and the go to classes and multiclasses that were hard to do. Also be aware that there is also the Sword Coast Adventurer’s guide (if your d uses it) that allows you to have variants for the half elf that reflex your elven “half”.

I'm currently playing my first ever campaign and my character is a half-elf fighter. She's able to double as the tank and damage dealer of the party, in our last session she dealt 88 damage over the course of one round at level 7.

I play a half elf cleric with a noble background in a Curse of Strahd campaign. This has been interesting because most of Barovia either hates me because I’m a half elf or because I’m a noblewoman. Strahd flat out hates me because I’m a cleric too.

I like playing half-elves. I find human characters boring, especially since there are so many cool fantasy creatures, but I like versatile characters.

I'm playing my first EVER spellcaster in DnD, a Half-Elf Oath of Vengeance paladin with a Noble background!! I'm having a real blast with it because we're at level 5, and I almost feel that it's almost too powerful so I might need to dial it back a little!! LMAO

Sharpshooter is a great perk on ranged characters. The rest is pretty dependent on the style you want to play...

Get a means of constant advantage, like Faerie Fire, or attacking from stealth, and consider Elven Accuracy to give double advantage. Helps with the -5 from Sharpshooter.

I just did a d&d character test that said I should be a half-elf ranger and that I was lawful good. So does that mean if I were to go with that character I'd be at a disadvantage?

Could you? Yes! It's just not as strong for rangers as other races. BUT, we're really fans of playing what's fun for you.

Typically bladesinging is held for JUST full elves; your mileage may vary based on your DM though.

Traditionally bladesong (invented by elves) wasn't taught to non elves, including half elves.

@@marcialhd They could be but only with Tasha’s character stat bonus were they optimal and would not lag compared to elves (who have a +2 dex).

Half-elves seem like an elf to humans and seem human to elves.
