I think the main strength of Edge of Tomorrow was its blend hard science, high concept and regular action. The Jackets are given realistic strengths and limitations, the time travel is explored in sufficient depth, and of course the action sequences are well made. It roughly connects to Asimov's three kinds of science fiction, and it goes to show that science fiction films can do with more variety.

Tom Cruise was great in Edge of Tomorrow. I don't understand all the hate he gets, yes he is a movie star and plays a similar role the majority of the time but he has been making great films for 3 decades! He's made all the money in the world and he is still EAGER to give his %100 commitment for our entertainment, a lot of the time risking his health in the process... how fucking awesome is that?! Tom Cruise is a treasure, and any movie goer should be thankful.
@oldmoviemusic9 жыл бұрын
+Matt Muldoon Agreed. Also, I know someone who worked with him, and she said he was the nicest guy out of any of the movie stars she's worked with. She said he went around to the entire crew chatting with them, making sure no one was left out, and that even after a two week Christmas break while shooting the film when he came back to set he remembered my friend's name, what they had talked about, and the various names of her family members that she had mentioned! She said he was an extremely genuinely nice person. Just recently she was in charge of most of the marketing for MI:5, and after the movie came out to great success he personally emailed her, congratulating and thanking her for specific things she did and how hard she worked. Most mega movie stars would NEVER take the time to do such a thing, and yet he did! I have a lot of respect for Tom Cruise, and I find it very sad that he has such an uphill battle as far as the public liking him goes. Scientology is an awful organization, but he's brainwashed by it too, as well as trapped by the fact that they have binders of everything he's said in the "auditing/therapy" sessions that they record, meaning they have his entire personal life and could release it if he ever left. The fact that he stays should not be held against him, and it's sad that it is. He's a fantastic movie star that works really hard to make good films {he doesn't phone it in, making lazy shit and then picking up the paycheck, like Bruce Willis}, and puts his heart and soul into his career - he really cares. Plus, he's a very good actor - while it's hard for him to escape how distinctive his looks are, he still always manages a good performance, one where you can always see that he cared and put effort into it. I really appreciate him as an actor, and I hope more people start to recognize the rare quality Movie Star that he is.

As soon as Tom Cruise showed up in the first scene she looked at me like no other woman ever had. As though she wanted to kill me. But she enjoyed him getting murdered over and over so much we saw it again, the same day. But we shelled out and got the 3-D version and got some Jack and Coke to have in the theater. After watching these guys sit through all three of the original movies at the same time, I'm actually kind of glad they dedicated so little time to the Transformers 4 review. The similarities between each were just ridiculous, often coming down to the exact second. It's proof that Hollywood gets away with just rehashing the same (awful) movie. Bottom line, it just wasn't worth their time, like beating a dead horse.

Edge of Tomorrow. Loved that movie. The ending was lame though. He should have been dead.

The original book and Manga had him and Rita fight to the death because they knew only one "antenna" or whatever could exist. honestly the original was wayyyy better.

RoboTurkeyNinja that came out of nowhere, not like I was acting like a douche, just stating the reasons for the ending in the original and that I thought it was better. I also disagree with the way the whole film was moved from Asia to Europe and that the main character was changed so much.

31:18 Duuuudes, I _swear_ I just watched this on Netflix, a Ryan Reynolds movie, and like... _everything_ you described was a main villain's plot point. Wow. Edit; Found it, "The Adam Project"

(WARNING, HITB EPISODE SPOILERS) But wait... If future-future Mike and Jay KILLED their younger selfs, how are they alive? How did they grown older, became super soldiers and go back in time if they were killed? Maybe they didn't kill them but send back to the future?

Watch Looper then get the reference that Jay mentioned during the episode.

it'll just transcribe so you don't need to look it up: looper: time travel is irrelevant to our time travelling problems. prelooper: you are correct, looper. [looper and prelooper exit stage left]

Huh... Sharlto Copley replacing Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow... You know, though I love the movie as is, I'd like to have seen that.
