Kurtzman looks completely miserable. He's never been good at this stuff, but it seems like he's being held hostage by it all now.

All of the original cast's movies RESONATED because they dealt with real issues being worked out in society. ST:TMP - the space race & the last frontier. ST2:WoK - the poison of revenge, getting older. ST3:TSfS - All for one, resurrection, reuniting. ST4:TVH - environmentalism ST5:TFF - God, false gods, we still have each other ST6:TUC - Chernobyl, the cold war. None of Nutrek resonates because none of it is written in response to the real world outside of performative recognition (which in fairness, the recognition of certain groups' existence has been long overdue). But merely "giving a shout out" is not enough. Where is the restoration of JUSTICE? That's what's truly resonant & satisfying. The problem in our politics stems from how RACE IS A PROXY FOR CLASS. We can play inclusive language games around inclusion, but if we continue down the path of neoliberal economic policy that only benefits the ultra-rich, then all we're doing is jerking each other's donks as we slide into the poorhouse. Either that, or our continued problem of using race as a proxy for class will create a ultra-nationalist counter-revolution & Sadopopulism. So no more recognition that certain people exist. BUT we'll still be managed by the same neoliberal economic policy that exclusively benefits the ultra-rich.

Do these super weapon morons know that if an explosion happened in the center of the galaxy, and it traveled at the speed of light , it would take 27,000 years to reach earth and 100,000 years just to reach the edge of the galaxy and 2 million years to reach Andromeda? And 46 billion years to reach the edge of the observable universe ? No of course they don’t know that because they write Science Fiction without knowing science.

My husband and I celebrate "Thingsgiving" every year. We watch this movie over a spaghetti dinner. (Note; Spaghetti's not the best visual for this movie, but you get used to it.) BTW, with Blair and the noose in the cabin, that's when we know he's taken over. When he was still Blair, he was going to end it to avoid a horrible fate, but the fate got to him first.

You know what they're trying to do with her? They're trying to make the Empress like Q, except while Q was vague and camp enough from day one to make his antagonism impersonal (he's gonna judge humanity!), the Empress *eating people* and ruling a fascist society is specific enough and close enough to real life villainy that it's a point of no return for most people no matter how badass and funny she is.

Alex Kurtzman feels like a spoiled child that steals other kids toys, breaks them, re-glues them together, poorly paints it black because "its cooler" then smashes it into piles of dog shit then when the other kids get annoyed or mad just acts confused about why those kids don't understand his genius for his cooler way to play with said toys.

Section 31 on DS9 was obviously influenced by Cold War spy fiction novels, particularly those written by more "realistic" authors such as John le Carré (with "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" episode plot being essentially a rip-off of his 1963 book "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold"), and now it's a plaything of Alex Kurtzman, a man with intelligence and subtlety of a toddler with a sledgehammer. I can only be thankful that he obviosly haven't watched DS9 in its entirety, because in that case he would've totally made Andrew Robinson to reprise his role as Garak, which would've ended up being another secular blasphemy, just like this "Picard" character in first two seasons of """Picard""". Although what I can't understand is how he managed to degrade even comparing to some of his previous works. Now, I haven't actually watched Alias (one of the earlier Bad Robot efforts, where he was on the writing staff), but general opinion is that it's a fun action spy TV show: not exactly cerebral, but enjoyable; when I would rather eat a dozen of lemons sliced and served on a Commemorative Star Trek Cancer Plate™ in one sitting than watch this load of tripe. P.S. 13:39 Mike mentions so many relatively modern titles, if only he could just watch, you know, THE GOOD THING (upon reading those words Farscape theme starts quietly playing in background, then becomes louder and louder, and finally reaches the climax when Avigail Herman's vocalise kicks in, signifying that it's time for Crichton and co. to embark on another genuinely fun adventure; God, I miss Farscape and Stargate SG-1 so much, but I also pray to all gods and buddhas that they never got "revived"). Besides, Guardians were directly influenced by it, IIRC, James Gunn has even publicly acknowledged that on Twitter. P.P.S. I hope Jay will make them watch all of the David Lynch's body of work (or at least the original Twin Peaks up to S02E09 and Mulholland Dr., both of those can be relatively safely recommended to normies). Followed by Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom by Pier Paolo Pasolini, of course.

Old actors shouldn't be doing action films. They can barely move. It's not convincing. The action sequences are usually filled with cgi to make up for the old actor's lack of stunt work. They should replace harrison ford with someone else like they do with the actor who plays james bond in james bond films They should also do this with the terminator. They should replace arnold schwarzenegger. he's too old. if it can work for james bond why can't it work for other films? it worked for mad max fury road. mel gibson wasn't in that

EVERY single self-appointed arbiter of what belongs in the STU, every single "fan" bitching up a storm, every single commenter polluting the ST fandom... needs to watch Rob Kazinsky's interview with Seán Ferrick on TrekCulture. "Star Trek isn't for YOU, it's for EVERYONE." "It should stand in there with the feature-length episodes." (referring to the budget, the limitations on runtime, etc) "Am I disappointed at the cruelty? Yes, because we're meant to be better than that in the Star Trek fandom. We're not Star Wars. We're not any of the other fandoms out there. We're meant to be kinder, we're not meant to be going online trying to hurt people's feelings. That's the whole point... I feel that... if you love Star Trek, you MUST be a good person." Etc, etc, etc. Watch it.
