The Power Ranger convicted of murder was the Red Ranger from the 10th season, Power Rangers Wild Force. The actor's name is Ricardo Medina Jr. and his character was named Cole Evans. That season was notable because it featured a tenth anniversary special episode called Forever Red where Cole teamed up with all the previous Red Rangers to fight a group of one-off villains. He (the actor, not the character) later reappeared as a villain in Power Rangers Samurai, the 18th season. This was before he murdered his roommate with a sword. But don’t let that distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer’s table.

Mike has a good point about Star Trek: there was that one episode with the Crystalline entity. Even though the entity seemed like a monster that just consumed carbon lifeforms, the Enterprise tried communicating with it through some kind of signal and it seemed to be working until the crazy woman who had lost a son to the entity sabotaged the controls and destroyed it.

I don't know if anyone reads these comments, so whatever. Here's the Power Rangers explanation: A guy called Saban made a company called Saban with the idea of taking Japanese Super Sentai footage, dubbing over it, and selling this shlock on TV. (Super Sentai is just Power Rangers, but Japanese. Exactly as you'd imagine it.) But of course because you can't sell Japanese live-action non-action footage to kids, you gotta get some actors and some 90s stuff that looks like Saved by the Bell. Every episode you'd get the formula of the villains send some monster down to Earth, they beat the shit outta the monster, the monster grows into a giant, they combine their robo-animal-toys to make a giant-robo-toy and beat the shit outta the giatn monster. Rinse n' repeat. The first show, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had three seasons, but every season after it was it's own show, with a different, "storyline," and different ripped Japanese footage. Each episode follows the formula, mix it up once in a while, toss in some attractive young adult actors, toss in some over-acting incompetant bumbling fumbling villains, toss in a bit of drama, there you go. I only really know this shit because Twitch is having a marathon stream of every episode. After a long while, Disney bought the rights to the franchise, moved it to New Zealand for a cheaper budget. Then after a few seasons of that the Saban dudes bought it back. And here we are today. It's actually exported to Japan, dubbed in Japanese, and sold there. Think about that. While watching it, you can try and spot what footage is from Japan. Some of the giveaways that you're watching Japanese stuff is sudden scene changes, different backgrounds, lower quality film, and uh, the giant Mount Fuji in the background.

How can they fuck up the origin story for Power Rangers, it's right there in the intro! "Aaaaaaaaaahhh! After ten thousand years, finally I'm free!!!" "Alpha, Rita has escaped! Find me a group of teenagers with attitude!" There, done in less than 20 seconds. And yes, they are magically teleported in front of Zordon who then turns them into the Rangers. Also, since they have attitude, none of them mope or whine about being Rangers.
@GreyPikmin3347 жыл бұрын
I actually thought most of the changes they made were tolerable and make sense given the lore. Like Rita being the original Green Ranger. That's how she has the dragon coin to give Tommy. That being said, I miss the camp. It tried to be campy in bits, but then it also wanted to be gritty, that's the real problem with the 2017 movie. It kinda flip-flops between the two. I also took most of the characters being edgy as trying to update it. The original characters didn't have much depth and were walking 90's stereotypes, so now it only makes sense to make them walking 2010's stereotypes with slightly more depth.

On the muted colors of the Power Rangers' suits: on art sites around the internet, a common critique I've seen is that bright colors are "over-saturated." "Try coloring things the color they really are, instead of the over-saturated color you think they are," is a comment I once received...from an artist who specialized in drawing gryphons. So I'm assuming that some of the people who made those comments were hired by Hollywood, and are now making colors muted in tons of movies because they believe bright colors are "unrealistic" and therefore "bad."

Defenstrator Unfortunately, in Pacific Rim, the characters, who took up the majority of film, were absolutely wretched.

"I can't tell if they were self-aware of how terrible it was." In that case it's already failed as an adaptation, because the source material was quite self-aware ... for instance, here's an exchange from the first few minutes of the first episode: Zordon: It's Rita. She's escaped, and she's attacking the planet! Alpha: What do we do? Zordon: Teleport to us five overbearing and over-emotional humans. Alpha: No! Not that! Not teenagers! Zordon: That's correct, Alpha. Alpha: I was afraid of that.

Laughed really hard when Mike was happy there was no action so he wasn't disturbed. I wonder how this whole movie trend of insane explosions that hurt your eyes and ears will end. Or if it will at all

Those power ranger "Styled" donuts are so lazy. Power Rangers made the climax surrounding a Krispy Kreme building but the donuts are just a cream filled chocolate icing with small lightning bolts. At least filled them with like colour themed fillings. Like Raspberry Jelly for red, custard for yellow and blue berry for blue.

"went in with such low expectations that I found the movie adequate" - yeah, I think that pretty much sums up my thoughts on P.R. too. They should put that endorsement on the cover of the dvd.

This is one of my Favorite half in the bag episodes just for that one moment when Jay mentions that the first episode was only 10 minutes long and it cuts to Mike opening a beer and having a moment of pure laughter. Always brings me joy. 4:19

They spent so long building up to the suits because they had to establish new ground rules for the franchise. In the original show, they were able to morph in the first episode, not strings attached. They wanted to have a more concrete reason why these five random kids would be able to fight cohesively together, so they have to show them bonding. THEN, they also wanted to establish their super abilities, which they don't have in the show (canonically). I agree it was too long, and they should have spread it out, but since it's meant to be the first in a series, I think it was okay that they have. I have a bigger problem with the aesthetics of the costumes and designs, pretty much for the reasons Mike said; everything is so muddy and over-complicated.
