When Brian and Amanda play, even the angels and the devils shoosh and listen.

I remember first being told about Dresden Dolls. I said "Keyboard and percussion only, how do they make that happen?". Then I saw Coin Operated Boy video. I was speechless and watch the video probably five or six times before I moved on to another one of their videos. They are captivating.

I can’t believe I saw them in 2005. These artists are one of a kind and have a special place in my heart. You don’t realize how much they helped until you look back at their passion.

I know this probably isn't the meaning of the song. (maybe its whatever meaning I want it to have) ... But this reminds me of someone very dear to me who had DID. Lines like "'Cause I'm not big enough to house this crowd" and "But if you listen you'll learn to hear the difference" resonate so strongly with me. This was one of her favorite songs. And I knew why, very few others did. To have a Jack part. and a Jill part, and maybe those aren't even the part you think of as you. To see her Mother in her face, but only when she was doing something like traveling. And triggers would bring the Jack part out, which she wouldn't even remember, like being in a black hole. And it always scared her when she came to, and realized she had just lost time. Sacrificing her body to get the Jack part out... I so understand whats being said here, so literal and so metaphoric at the same time. I miss her so much, and all of her, not just the part that was present most of the time. Almost no one else knew, when she passed, it wasn't only her who passed. She loved Dresden Dolls and Amanda Palmer so much. And I am glad I got to have some of the precious time she had here.
