Half Life 2 Chapters Tier List

The beginning of Our Benefactors has always fascinated me more than any other chapter. Being taken through the citadel as kind of a cinematic experience where you can just sit back and watch (the only one in the game!) and you get to see how insanely huge the citadel is inside, some of what goes on inside, a glimpse of the outside from very high up, the soundscape, god its so amazing. Definitely one of my favourites

I think reason people hate the driving sections so much, is because of the old driving mechanics. Nowadays i find these chapters relaxing and actually fun. To me any chapter that has G-man in it makes it S, because it feels you uncover more secrets and that he's behind it all. Also what i liked the most about sandtraps is that you build an army of antlions and the fight before Nova Prospect feels like unique twist on D-Day.

I used to watch my dad play half life 2 when I was around 7. I loved it. The zombies scared me to death so ravenholm gave me nightmares. We had surround sound so we could hear where the fast zombies were coming from

10:25 nothing new gameplay-wise in Anticitizen One? I humbly disagree Looking back it might not have been the most fleshed-out mechanic, but being able to command a squad of resistance soldiers in Anticitizen One and Follow Freeman blew me away at the time and gave those missions a unique feeling of scale and importance. It also enhances the narrative of Freeman being the one Free Man, a symbol of hope and rebellion that the downtrodden will follow into battle. This is a great idea for a tier list, Dredile! Love the video and thanks for sharing

Cool list bro! I only disagree with you about the Follow Freeman chapter in B tier. For me this chapter is the best and most memorable of the game, and what I feel it is the most unique that Half-Life can offer. When I first played Half-Life 2, back in 2005, I was amazed with the blend of War of the Worlds meets Stalingrad, with automatic weapons, that this chapter offers. It has some horror vibes too, when you hide from striders inside the apartment complex, and have to kill them using rockets. We cannot forget the "LG orbifold" set piece, that not only is one of the most epic action sequences in gaming, but also feels like humanity last desperate push against the overwhelming forces of the Combine. Anyway, it is always cool to know everyone elses opinion.

If you make another one of those sleeping in gmod map videos, you should spend one on gm construct 13 beta, gm construct 13 beta has a lot more scary stuff that can really freak you out if you aren't expecting it. Such as friendly npcs killing other friendlies, explosions, npcs turning into hostile stalkers, an npc of a girl you can save to turn her into a cone that lights up when you're in a "haunted area". A chair that has a secret to do with a specific prop on the map. The player character from half life 2 teleporting you or staring at you from far away, music playing and shadow people.

I was looking forward for this tier list, I agree for the most part and I'd only put Ravenholm in S tier because it's an epic chapter. Great job Dredile and it would be cool if you review the chapters of Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Episode 1 and Episode 2 in one go as they have awesome moments on those games/expansions.

My two Top chapters are Our Benefactors and Anticitizen 1. Other chapters are kinda cool like Nova Prospekt or We don't go to Ravenholm due to the gore number. The worst one would be H17 - that SB dropped me car on da roof, the nerve. It's a shame the Rebels didn't reverse engineer that plasma pulse cannon (on Airboat/Helicopter) - that'd be dope especially during Uprising

Water Hazard, like On a Rail is miss-understood, so to say. Even the Black Mesa devs cut it's size but decided to make Xen 4 hours long. Ehh????
