maan i remember having such problem crossing the bridge with the train in the beggining, they really dont give you any time to spare XD

I remember it being a good scare when the train horn goes off but I didn't remember it being seriously this close! It's really wacky!

Why not just wait until the train has passed?

A reasonable question to ask! The quick answer, of course, is "Because this is way more tubular!" However, I do believe that in-game, the train doesn't spawn until you've driven well along the bridge (and the other parked train on the left is blocking you from dodging). I'm not actually sure if, once the train spawns in and honks, you can reverse and get out of the way in time - this is certainly something that someone could test. But I'm fairly certain that you can't sit at the start of the bridge and wait the train out.
