Valve had an interview where they basically told newcomers to play Episode 2 before jumping into Alyx. I find that very interesting considering apparently it's a prequel.

They said making HL: Alyx non vr available would downgrade the game's abilities and that's why they showcased how you can interact with objects in the trailer. Personally, I'm really hyped for March, (they dropping this on my birthday month, how cool!) cause I want more half life lore to be unfold. Also, besides the mechanics of a half life game, people mostly enjoy the storyline of the game and that's something that I believe valve have put much effort to keep it as the other installments on the half life games. Hope to hear your thoughts when the game eventually comes out!

I noticed that! The game was made entirely for VR. Even so, I do hope a version can be made for mouse/keyboard, even if it's like a fan mod or something. That would be cool to see. Speaking of which, HL Alyx will support mods! I have no doubt the game is going to enrich Half-Life's story and world even more. But yeah, I really should save up for VR at this point, haha. @@VGTI How do you imagine translating VR mechanics to mouse and keyboard? For example, try to "convert" Beat Saber, VR music game into mouse and keyboard. How to do that in compelling way? Use two mice? That would just suck. Any modder would need to make unique animations for every type of interaction, and it would still suck. People should start accepting that it's going to be VR only game.

That's fine if it's VR-only. I'm going to get around to getting VR one of these days, and I know HLA will be my first purchase. :) I'm fine with a non-VR version just being a pipe dream...

I believe that the race x from opposing force will probably make an appearance in Half life Alyx. And it would make sense of what we saw in the trailer. The electricity bug thing at the beginning of the trailer could be the shockroach

You can see the player using her tech from the second game, whatever that laser is she uses to hack or disrupt Combine electronics. I'd be willing to bet you can get her pistol for at least a little bit

A thing that i noticed in past half-life games(ep 1 and 2), is that the soundtrack has changed so much and it match with Alyx, and in the past games the player spend more time with her

I believe that there are many people that the G-man keeps tabs on but doesn't necessarily interact with, such as pre-rescue Alyx, but the moment that the Vortigaunts chose to save her from the Citadel shifted her place on his priority list up far higher than it used to be, rivalling Gordon's, if not surpassing his.

Half Life Gordon's storyline ends with HL2Ep3, Half Life 3 would be with Alyx because she takes the contract of the Gman. That means HL3 = Hl:Alyx? In this precuel we control an Alyx of the future sent to the events between HL and HL2 (or at least her consciousness)? HYPE

Call my theory stupid all you want, but here's what I think. The game is gonna start out with the cliffhanger from episode 2, but then GMan steps in and offers Alyx the opportunity to save her father's life (my main reason for this is you clearly hear Eli say "close your eyes honey" with the same delivery from Ep. 2) if Laidlaw's Epistle 3 is anything to go by, I say the game will end with Alyx ending up on the Borealis and that'll be what will lead into episode 3 and that will be determined by how well this game does. Or, everything gameplay wise is fake and they're pulling an Infinity War/Endgame and we're actually getting HL3 (a big stretch, but it's still a possibility)
