I believe I know about the ‘City’ skybox. At the very end when G-Man debriefed you, you teleport through various scenes. One of these involves a load of dead soldiers and a tank in why appears to be the desert. The sky appears to be Xen, leading to the belief that the HECU somehow invaded a cross-dimensional world. In fact, all the scenes happen in the same map, but limitations mean that only one skybox can be viewed. The battlefield scene was supposed to be the New Mexico desert with a city in the distance, showing how the invasion had spread further than Black Mesa and nearly hit civilisation

@clone3a780 you likely would have been able to see the seams and corners, or it would have looked weird with the lighting. Skies in the Quake 1 / GoldSrc engine are rendered in a special way to ensure they give the correct illusion of distance and continuity.

The construction model didn't become the guard model, but was based on a modified guard model. The model it's based on is actually newer than the model seen in the alpha files. Also, the chumtoad is also seen as an Easter egg in Blue Shift, and the unused animation for Nihilanth are mostly, if not entirely, Alien Controller animations.

The city textures at 3:52, If I were to hazard a guess, I imagine it might have been for a cutscene that depicts what happens after Gordon goes into stasis. But seeing as the whole game never uses cutscenes, it may have conflicted too much with the overall design and been a scrapped idea. Back then, we had no idea that the combine were going to take over the Earth in the span of 7 hours, perhaps there would have been a peek of that and what could have been to come at the end of the game, Like ominous combine ships descending on a city, I imagine it would have been a very short cutscene but what have hinted at what we would already come to know when half life 2 would come out in the mid 2000s

4:01 JUST SPECULATION: but that city Texture makes me think that they might've planned a section for Los Alamos since Half Life takes place In Black Mesa, New Mexico. If you dive deep into a pool in the Xen part of Blue Shift, you will come to a secret cave. As you enter, the text "CHUMTOAD'S LAIR" will flash across the screen, and three chumtoads will be visible. Okay, but the story behind doctor.mdl is actually much deeper - you see, there was a much more detailed model planned at one point, but some guy ended up making the model only slightly based off the drawings - most of it was created by the modeler. (Source: Combine OverWiki article.) Gordon was a more refined version, as Ivan (pronounced Eye-Van) was a rushed, off-model monster. Oh, also, Chumtoads ARE actually described on the Combine OverWiki (basically the unofficial Half-Life wiki) as being used as a bait weapon. After all, a site provided with information DIRECTLY from Valve stated that most of the Xen creatures feast on Chumtoads. Chumtoads eventually would appear once in Opposing Force and twice in Blue Shift as Easter Eggs. (Also, before you go into a Blue Shift cut content, Snarks are *not* unused in that game) Wait, I'm not done, because according to my sources, the stealth jet is used. I'm just offering constructive criticism. Anyways, according to tcrf user Aperson, "The stealth jet IS USED in the cliffside map. (Surface Tension) It doesn't appear the same as it does in a model viewer however, since it's made transparent in game." In conclusion, maybe try checking alternative sources before you use TCRF alone. I'm shocked at how much information the TCRF page for... well, all Half-Life games leave out.

Many of these were actually used in the retlae game, for eg.: The animation with the crossbow, the Gordon pokes the string, the textures with pipe ends or something like that 7 holes.
