Trailer for Half Life: Off World Assignment. An early preview of the settings & story, and a release date for the first episode and map of the series. Written, Animated & Directed by Ryan Wilhelm.
Music by Mike Morasky & Valve Software.

Regarding animation quality, I'm aware of the stiffness of the character in certain scenes. These animations will be smoothed out during the full release. I had a deadline I wanted to make with this trailer, and frankly - Ive been sick of sitting on all this work for so long. Also expect the combine UI and visual effects of the cameras to be overhauled aswell. Stay tuned for more teasers on the series!

dude you have 450 subscribers im honestly just blown away with your set design and how the characters dont look too stiff but im welcoming an ironing out and smoothing of any stiffness

I wont be making an entire game around the series, but each episode will have a subsequent playable map that takes place within the episode. All maps will be free to download on the steam workshop & will be playable with a steam copy of Half Life: Alyx. Maps include additional information, lore, and areas not present in the series.

@@qwertyasd759 Sadly yes as of right now. There is a non vr mod for half life alyx that I may tinker with. And if s&box is stable & easy to port stuff to, I will bring all the maps to that whenever it releases.

Very atmosphere, well done. I could imagine this being like a Crafting/combat/horror survival but still semi-linear half life adaptation

Really interested in this project! Don't worry about the quality of the animation itself, these things take time and practice. As long as the story is engaging people won't mind. Excited to see where this goes, the premise is great!

Some of the movement is stiff. So what? It looked REALLY cool, I was instantly sucked in! The HUD is pretty cool too, i love all the different effects you added, i just gotta ask to be sure, the yellow guy is a citizen right? I really like the idea of reviving the gas masks for citizens AND combine, they'll probably need breathing equipment offworld too, but ive always really loved the stolen/poisoned air plot that was cut from beta.

Yes he's a citizen being forced to work for the combine- still 100% human with no cybernetics. And yes the gas mask is important for survival in xen areas & off world areas. I love the vibe of the beta but I'm following the hl2 release and Alyx lore due to the available assets. Although it would be fun to eventually do some small short animations based around the beta.

The first episode of the series takes place mostly on earth, so this trailer is more focused on the Earth content. Scenes at 0:35, 0:59, and 1:08 are all not on earth :)
