I remember watching the half life in 45 mins speedrun when I was a kid. It was hidden in a folder on our family pc. My brother got it from a friend on a Lan party and I can't describe how I felt when I first watched it. It amazed me beyond belief that a game can be taken this far. It was really an amazing sight to behold. Now SEVERAL years later I still see improvements done to the speedrun and it always will make me happy to watch a new World Record. Amazing speedrun, amazing game, amazing dedicated community. I will always come back to see insane gamers break this game in half even when I'm retired and sitting on my porch. Thank you for your commitment and thanks to the community to always push the boundaries of this old ass game

Love watching these and am new to speedrunning. Could someone please explain what is a Scripted run and what other types of runs there are? Thank you!

Scripted speedrun means using additional scripts to make the speedrun easy for example the automatic bhoping one, limiting fps etc. (I don't know the exact command) You can use these commands/scripts in the ingame console While scriptless speedrun doesn't include any such scripts it's just like how an professional speedrunner will finish the game like a normal/new player does

@@shaishavsharma5833 limiting FPS is a single command, so it's allowed in scriptless runs. Scripted just means using additional commands (such as upside-down/backwards view for tau boost) and for running multiple commands in a single key press (changelevel delays, object boosts)

save and load(search about it)

Its not a save load its using fps_max 4 bind to decrease fps to 4 so that you will pass 0.25 seconds without game checking if you are touching any tripmines, so in theory you can pass tripmines at any fps given you move fast enough

I use a script to run the timing of everything. It is very difficult to execute on scriptless but it is possible. Tankfird made great advancements lately on a viable consistent scriptless water clip without the use of scripts so that's my next goal when I get back to HL.
