Another reason to go for fleet move speed on flagship is because it affects your transports too, which makes ferrying you armies around the world muuch quicker and saves a ton of attrition from open seas.

Hey, just a QOL tip, at 31:45 instead of selecting all provinces one by one you can Ctrl (or it was Shift, can't remember for sure) click on every province and transfer them all at once

I follow your steps with Castile in the last video, though i follow diferent routes: destroyed HRE in the Restoration of Union with Austria, full colonial, etc. In the end i could have an world conquest but i was bored by the 1700 (only China and Japan left). I have all the achivments of the spaniards except becoming HR emperor. Is my personal opinion but the encomienda system (or system of councils, dont remember well the name for the 1st goverment reform) is amazing, +3 constantly mana and other bonuses. I hope you continue until the 1800 with Spain, they are my personal favorite of the game.

I just played Castile, seriously, for the first time two weeks ago. I also managed to restore Rome and get the Mare Nostrum achievement, too! I used to play EU4 incredibly slow and timid, but I was slightly more aggressive and strategic with my wars, thank you, Ludi, and I managed to both restore Rome and conquer the New World. The new missions are a blast

Dealing with the infantes - have 2 major armies with 17-18k troops, one stationed in the northern part the other one in the southern (i also recommend deleting the fort in Burgos, sometimes they spawn there, and it's a pain in the ass to retake the fort - until many bad event would pop) When you get the event, quick save, check where the troops are gonna spawn - ALT+F4 - start your save, wait with the event - send your troops where the 2 rebel armies will spawn. You arrived - click the button so they spawn - kill them, retake the province, and boost your stab to 0. You've done with the event within 1-2 months, and lucikly you didn't even got bad events.

On a less flirty note, Lubi something I did recently that you could find fun to do (either for video or just when you're playing) I never got the 3rd path before sooooooOooooo I started as Oman, zeroed in on Yemeni provinces, culture shifted and formed Yemen which gave me their funky new missions then did like most of their mission tree, took Egypt formed Mamelukes did the Egypt mission got Western tech units and kicked the ass of persia and north africa all by like.. 1600? xD Very fun!

So right on the infantes. It can be over real quick or ruin you. I let Aragon have Navarra, so when I get the Aragon PU, Aragon has claims on Provence from an early mission, which I can push, and use Navarra to expand into Gascony and Bordeaux. But I like using my subjects' claims and missions.

Couple of things you missed. Still an excellent video. 1.) Did you activate manpower thing when you finished the event? I think you did, but you didn't say. 2.) You can select land and change who occupies them with shift and click. So you only need to do it once. 3.) Portugal and co will still take explo if you vassalise/union them. Has been like this since atleast last year :)

Running Castile I like to "help" Austria complete a few missions - especially the one where they get the PU on Bavaria, which also means helping Bavaria form. Then I get the PU CB on Austria to get them and Bavaria, hopefully Bohemia and Hungary if they got them as well. Kind of a bit of 3D chess... But oh so fun.

Castile was the first nation I played after getting the game and I come back to it every patch or so, because it's so much fun to play. What're your thoughts on taking over half of Portugal at the start, so that they're still big enough to go colonial, but you have more trade / tax income before the PU? Thanks for making the videos!

Wouldn't it be worth it to only click the mission once you got rid of the starting ruler? Not only you would be getting the extra points for a better ruler that it probably going to live for longer, but if he dies to early and you get a regency, the castilian civil war is going to trigger anyway. And if you get the castilian civil war before 1450 and side with Aragon, it's guaranteed to get Isabella, meaning that you'll get a 6/6/4 ruler that might live for a very long time, and won't need to worry about rng messing with the iberian wedding. It will delay expansion early on and make you get behind adm tech for a while, but in the long run you would be getting more adm and mil points

The fleet engagement width +3 is by far the best modifier on a flagship no matter the type. But especially for a trade flagship, as it can allow a fleet of trade ships to win if they get stuck in combat with a real war fleet.

remember that engagement width works for both fleets, so it's only helpful if you have more ships and they can't fill their width, otherwise you'd be literally cucking yourself bro xD

Ludi, never forget, coastal raid is locked to 3 sea zones, so if you want to push away raiders from your "rich" coastline like tunis, simply takes the provinces strategical, to push the 3 sea zones away.

Yo Ludi, I would like to challenge you to make a Trebizond Guide for 1.36. I wanna go for the Komnenoi Achievement but by expanding West and not flee from the Ottomans. In my eyes Trebizond is borderline unplayable because you literally have no path of expansion; even If you get the diet Claims on Aq Qoyunlu which (and I have tried so believe me) takes about 30 resets - the Ottomans will Ally them within the First 7 days, and since Georgia was "unified" in the new Patch, its impossible to expand into the Caucausus in the first years. So i once played as Aragon and i had both Castile and Portugal colonise the new world for me :) Though castile was a little too big and i ended up having to lose some of their provinces in order to integrate them with a click. That campaign was prety good if i remember right. Likr you can realy conquer Europe and don't give a f about colonising until you inherit Castile and Portugal and the you continue their work in wiping the natives and maybe taking only exploration ideeas and not expansion mid game. Like as the 4th idea. Which gives me an idea of what might be my next campaign :)

Call me crazy but in the early game, if I'm cofrtable using the extra estate privileges - I'm often give out a monopoly privelege or two. Generally on livestock or other low production income goods. They give estate loyalty and let me grow mercantilism faster than i lose it with estate loans

0.05 autonomy isn't so bad, it's countered by...not being at war. Hard. I know. But as far as modifiers go, that one is barely a problem. You can run around with 10 corruption, can't you? So a little bit of autonomy is a part of that.

if Aragon Rivals you there is a changse they chose in a event that Aragon gonna be friendly towards Castile. Castile will get 1 Stability. Also after u disinherit Enrique there is a changse to get a mission from the estates for gettin 0 Prestige. If you reach it, you will get also 1 Stability.

PU with Portugal: One thing is allways anoying me. The fact that after PU-ing them they start cololising in my owned colonial areas in the new world and then you will have 2 different colonial nations in the same area as your minor after integrating Portugal. Is there a way besides war or waiting to PU Portugal to unite the two colonial nations or to avoid it completely?

You shouldn't avoid it because the bonus for gold fleets stacks based on how many colonial nations produce gold. There is no reason to not maximise your colonial nations using Portugal unless you need full states for the forever golden missions. Even then you just release the colonial nation who is annoying then annex them into your preferred one. Bottom right of subject tab there is release colonial nation button which is what you need.
