As others have said I don’t think you’ll find any professional detailers using these products as they don’t exactly scream “street cred” with a Halfords logo on but it’s a shame really because having used them a few times now they really are great value for money and do exactly as they say they do on the bottle, the ceramic foam sealant is a personal fave. Excellent informative video mate 👍

Enjoyable video. Especially as many reviewers seem too afraid to go near Halfords. Another product from Halfords that you could have used to good effect on the wheels Is their glove mitt. Works wonders on the back of the spokes and fits either hand. Around 5 quid.

Thanks Dave, I mean they’re a whole lot better offering then the usual coloured water, they’ve gone to the effort of listening to what people want in a range of car cleaning products, I’d like to see larger quantities available and maybe a good regular wheel cleaner rather than a super strong one
@jonlinder18911 ай бұрын
Great and informative video Graeme, especially around the dye in the wheel cleaner, how often do we see claims of strongest or quickest just because they're instantly purple. Looks a great little range for the weekend warrior who's a bit more into it than just a clean car, but not so far down the rabbit hole that they're studying MSDS sheets or waving make-up pads about... Good average middle of the road products which will satisfy 90% of Halfords customers
@GMDetails10 ай бұрын
Thanks Jon!, that’s it exactly!!, they’ve done the research for what people want and delivered exactly that!!, except the wheel cleaner could do with an every day one in addition to the range but mainly, as good as some of the best out there in my opinion anyway 👌

Halfords own products might not seem"Sexy" to detailers but on that showing they did a good enough job. I wonder what AutoBrite are thinking about that Spray on Ceramic Sealant with their own Magiseal offering that Halfords sell. Although I didn't find Magiseal had a great longevity but it's been a while since I've used it so may be wrong in that. That was a good tip about cleaning the barrels bottom to top which makes a lot of sense. That is my top tip for this week.

Fantastic review mate as always 👏👏. A very well balanced impartial view of these products. My own thoughts are that possibly Halfords have seen how many Autoglym products are bought and have realised that this is worth spending some money on. Attracting more customers that want to clean their own cars and possibly don't have (your kind of) knowledge regarding brands/products. Make it simple and convenient for the majority of people, then more people will try/buy them and be able to get them very easily, all the while doing a great job.

Hi Graeme, well at last the South West has lost the hosepipe bans just in time for the poor weather seasons🤥still its an opportunity to buy some more products. I rather like spray on rinse of products in the winter and have used Autoglym Polar Seal via a spray bottle (crazy value), whilst not the most hydrophobic it certainly does a good job. I'm thinking of trying some Gyeon Wet Coat for a change, do you have any favorites in this category? Best wishes.

Why do you rinse bottom to top? Thanks for vid BTW, really informative
@GMDetails5 ай бұрын
Short answer - once the foam has dwelled I always rinse the ‘sunny side’ bottom to top as the flow from the pressure washer is removing the grime, gentle flowing water from the top won’t remove grime , you ‘can’ still achieve this from the top if you’re really careful but the most important reason is while I’m rinsing the foam all around the car still has time to dwell and be effective for those precious few minutes, plus it is a guide to see where I’ve been, it’s a very divided technique , it’s what I’ve done for years and works for me

I bought the Citrus, Wheel Wash and the Ceramic Spray yesterday for just £27. I ran out last week, and thought I’d give them a go. I have BH Auto Foam so didn’t get the foam spray. Hopefully I can have a go later………………..
@GMDetails6 ай бұрын
Superb!!, let me know what you think 😀
@cerealkiller42485 ай бұрын
Well, I managed to clean my motor last Friday, and tested the ceramic spray. First I used Halfords Reactive Wheel Cleaner, 3 wheels came up lovely, but the 4th was a pain. ( I later realised why. After a recent MOT, the brakes were picked up on, so in it went for new brakes. 2/3 days later it was grinding. Turns out, even though they said replace brakes ASAP on advisories, when it went in they didn’t……………. As I had to use it for 2 weeks before I could get it done, it deposited lots of crap onto the barrel 🤬🤬🤬 ) Bilt Hamber Auto Foam snow foam, was followed by Meguiars Gold shampoo prepped it, then time for the Halfords Ceramic Spray. I put in 60ml to 600ml of water, made sure vehicle was wet then coated it. It beaded nicely on spraying on, then I washed it off. It beaded ok, but wasn’t amazing, I dried it then stood back. As I did I realised my drying towel was soaking, the wettest it had ever been. I wondered did it need curing time, so since then I have kept an eye on the car as it has rained, no difference. Tonight I looked again, lots of small beads, but no sheeeting. So, looking back, the only thing I could think of I may have done wrong was, I used my MJJC short trigger gun to blast it off instead of my K4 turbo lance………….. I will try it again, but not too impressed by first application, which is a shame, as the wheel cleaner was awesome and I was hoping for a similar performance from the ceramic spray.
@GMDetails5 ай бұрын
@cerealkiller4248 ah I think you might have went in a little weak at 60ml the recommended dilution is 50ml to 250ml water so even using 500ml you’d still need 100ml of product to achieve the recommended dilution
@cerealkiller42485 ай бұрын
@GMDetails That rings a bell, I was going to check the dilution, but couldn't be bothered to go to the garage as it was so late when I replied. I mixed up 600ml as I have a VW Transporter. I'm going to try it again as soon as the rainstops, the Starlings have started their bombing missions early this year 😳 Hopefully the 2nd application will improve the finish 👍

I've been looking at theses recently and the lack of a 5 litre option for the snow foam seems to a glaring mistake but then if aimed at the likes of me, a weekend warrior, I guess that they're trying to keep prices down and it takes up slightly less storage space ..... The reacrive wheel cleaner looks like it does a first class job but I've always been led to believe that it, and fall out remover, should be used after the wheel is cleaned so it's acting on the ferous particles and not possibly being blocked by the dirt
@GMDetails8 ай бұрын
I think you’re dead right it’s a hobbyist they seem to be aiming the range at, you never know it may get larger if it’s a popular range, Halfords seem to chop / change quite often in that respect. Wheel cleaners are a bit of a talking point certainly, personally I keep fallout removers for a once a year deep clean but on another thought, maybe someone has really bad wheels they want to clean, I def think it’s very good but not for every clean

@@GMDetails that is correct. So I mix 2l DI water, 40-80ml AF (or Surfex), 40ml Halfords snow foam. It's basically the super foamy AF we all crave. How's that for a slice of fried gold!
