Nice Job Greame. Don’t think you misapplied (except, maybe stripe on bonnet) as the bottom of the doors the only place to fail, on both sides, where every product fails first. Back to the drawing board for GT maybe. Just about finished 5 litres of GT Snow Foam V2 and it has been a good prewash, applied mostly by foam cannon. Have also used by pump-sprayer and works just as well, just takes longer to apply. Just bought BH Touch-Less (2% version) to replace it and hope it works as well, it will be roughly 33% cheaper because of dilution so that’s a good start!

Great video and very interesting, in relation to the coating issue. I used a 1 year coatong on dad's car and thought I'd appied as oer the instructions, 4 months later it was dead and could not be recived, I've not coated anything since, sticking to waxes and sealants. Regarding Sigma, I need to try that because I have V2 and reallyndont like it, it never gets used on anything dark, due to streaks, that I dont get with other products. DMS is also a must try. I have the IW acidic shampoo and really like it and, I also live in a hard water area, so could be a real find. All the best, Graeme, enjoyed your uploads this year, hopeful of many more in 25.

Thanks Lee!, yeah re Sigma v2 I shouldn’t think you’ll have a problem with it if you’re even using two cloths to buff off , I do feel it’s a thick product and removing residue does tend to reapply itself so creating streaking issues , bit of a pain but it’s due to it being so ‘concentrated’ , maybe even try it as a drying aid without using your best drying towel tho 😂 Have a great Christmas with your family Lee!, thanks for your mega support this year 👌

Great video, I always find that lower area always the first to fail on various coatings I've tried. And likewise I've not revived them to any great effects. Thanks for the mention at the end, I'm humbled and honoured to have been of some help 🙏🏻. As per usual another great video and a full run down of the products used. Due to inexperience I'll NOT be putting a ceramic coating on my car, however do you think that any 1yr coating that is applied outside like you did will have some flaws in its make up. I mean detailers normally put a coating on inside under controlled conditions and they last 2 - 7yrs with only a maintenance regime??? It's good to see you hold your hands up and say that mistakes could have been made due to this being your first time applying a coating...proves to us that you're human. As for the cloths they look like a fantastic addition to anyone's arsenal and yet again you're making me spend more money 🤣🤣 Great job mate, can't wait to see how this one goes 🤞🤞

Thanks Paul!, you’re very welcome mate you have to be as close to a ‘super fan’ as anyone can get I feel but more than that you are a good friend too!! Coatings wise, there has been a lot of hype over ceramic coatings over the years. With cheap ones flooding the market from the far east to ones claimed to be made in detailing ‘labs’ so you can tell there’s some wild marketing strategies going around but there is NO one single coating that can last 7 years , not even 5 years without maintenance by an ‘approved’ installer , this is where they make their money with repeat business year on year, I’m not saying it’s a con or a scam as there are many benefits to a ceramic coating but marketing does play a significant part in making people believe they have an invincible shield of protection that will work wonders 😆
@paulquickmire4140

@GMDetails I whole heartly agree with what you've said. Everything these days seems to have a dark side, with people trying to make a quick buck or trying the next scam. There has to be some sort of trade-off between professionals applying products and the enthusiasts. After all the brands reputation is what's on the line. If a rank amature doesn't have a clue and then applies it wrong, they can't really go about shouting that the product is rubbish unless the company has "deliberately" miss lead the public with like you've said with ridiculous false claims.
@GMDetails

To be clear though all the 2yr+ ceramics have to have a heated cure time to bond properly to the surface and can really only be done by someone with a bay big enough to work in, not something we ordinary plebs have ☹️

I'd Infinity Waxes 2 year ceramic coating applied to my car after a single stage polish back in April and it's still holding up remarkably well .... I've bought some Synergy Boost just to top it up.
@jonlinder189
@jonlinder189 2 күн бұрын
But this isn't a 2-year coating. It's a one year and closer to IW Synergy, which I've used previously and never got past six to eight months with on upper panels... For reference I've also had a version of the GT and had similar issues, albeit with much higher mileages... Clogging seems to be an issue with all shorter term ceramics.
@petersmith7126

@jonlinder189 ... I'm maybe lucky with mines as being retired now I'm only doing about 400 miles a month although the cars parked outside and exposed to the elements but the lack of road use is maybe assisting my longevity..... There's plenty of spray on rinse off products to help boost the protection, I've bought Synergy Boost to use, or even the likes of Gyeon Wet Coat to put a sacrificial layer on top but I'm still a bit shocked at how quickly your coating has worn off there
@GMDetails
@GMDetails 2 күн бұрын
It is a ‘development’ product post release product anyway but as you say if your car doesn’t go out much it will last longer, so many variables to say for one user experience to another in terms of care of product or using ‘sacrificial layers’ , this was left to its own devices for the first 3 months without so much as a QD applied to try and show what the worst possible outcome would be for the product , something that maybe a double coat on lower panels could possibly have prevented any deterioration really , very interesting points , thanks 👍

Enjoyed the video, thanks. I find lambs wool mitt to be the safest/softest, and don't like noodle mitt or microfibre personally. When my car isn't too dirty, which is most of the time as I wash it every week, I use Bilt Hamber auto foam on a dry paint, rinse, then a cheap autoglym pure shampoo, rinse, and dry with soft car drying towels. Finally I use P&S beadmaker as a topper. It takes me about 20 mins. For the wheels, I use Bilt Hamber auto wheel, which I agitate with UF wheel woollies. This probably adds another 15 mins to do all four wheels properly.

Two hours for a maintenance wash inside & out is going some and all for £30 it's a hard graft in my opinion. I like to take my time on a detail but as it is my hobby in retirement time is something I have in abundance. I am getting my next new to me car tomorrow so next week will be taken up treating it to a deep deep clean and winter prep with multiple layers of wax and sealant courtesy of Mitchell & King. You made a cracking job of that car. White does really look good when properly cleaned it's just I hate waxing them as it is more difficult to see where I have been. I'm sure driving for a living pays better and it is certainly warmer in a Scottish winter.

As a drying aid there absolutely brilliant at adding slickness under your drying towels as your towels just glide over your paint and the slickness of your paint after is simply superb. As a QD with de-ironised water you can knock em up for pennies. Water softener in the bucket…the list goes on and on for it uses they are that versatile. New video content in the making 👍👍👍

Not sure if you will pick this up at this late stage but after watching countless video of folk calculating thd PIR for BH Autofoam or Touch-Less a fairly reasonable measure is 100ml of product diluted to 1 litre is 1%..... So if using it on a very dirty vehicle and Autofoam calls for 4% mix 400ml up to 1 litre .... Touch-Less is a bit more economical as its max PIR is 2% so 200ml to 1 litre ..... If you want to do the actual calculations it might be 432ml and 216ml but one is i doubt those will make much difference and two just how accurate are the measurements you're taking.... That 1 litre snow foam cannon might hold 990mls or it might hold 1050mls if messured with a calibrated measuring system .... Same with the 15 litre bucket you empty it into.... You might messure 11.5 litres but it could be anything from 11 to 12 litres .....

Rinseless washes have become my go-to method for maintenance washes during summer as they are a much quicker way to get the car clean. Just a tip, rather than washing and drying each panel at a time, it is much quicker to apply ONR via a pump-sprayer to the entire car, then wash it all in one go the same way you would as a traditional wash, then dry at the end. Saves a lot of time as you aren't constantly changing what you're doing. Great thing about ONR is if it dries on the panel, simply re-wet it again with more ONR then wipe off. Unlike normal water, you don't get water-spotting, just 'polymer spots' which are easily removed.

Yeah I’ve watched all the ONR videos from The Rag Co about polymer spotting etc , even pre rinsing and pre washing with citrus etc but I just feel as tho the ONR system is just becoming a tool in a system which is having to be repurposed into an already tried and tested routine , if ONR is only going to replace the contact wash I’d rather just use the standard system if I’ve had to use all the usual kit for pre wash. I’m not dissing anyone for liking the speed of ONR if it fits with their own routine but I tried ONR as a solution to the problem of not using a hose and on a reasonably clean car it worked well enough but wasn’t quite the same for me as my regular wash routine which I really enjoy.

@@GMDetails Yeh exactly that. For me, it doesn't replace a full wash and I agree with you, it doesn't match the enjoyment either. For me, it's a quick way I can keep my car clean during summer. It allows you to keep on top of washes so the car is never that dirty and it takes around 30-45mins tops. I do enjoy a proper full wash but by the time you've got your pressure washer out, filled out your buckets etc, the time really does add up. Mind you if you have that extra time every few weeks then there is no issue, but if not, that's where a rinseless wash can be quite useful. Also, another great use for ONR is cleaning glass and interiors. Lot of videos on that and with good reason. I'd highly recommend trying it out.

@@MrAmrit2012 I regularly use ONR on my dash plastics as I rarely scrub them with anything chemical , a cap of ONR in a 5L bucket just makes wiping down the plastics an absolute breeze as ONR helps the drying without streaks 👌

Superb video and review, can imagine the hours of graft and dedication to bring this together. Some bigger channels need to up their game. I use Parla and enjoy it, but good to see it perform well amongst a wide range of products. Thanks Graeme

Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it, yes keeping notes and film dates etc it is quite a task but it’s something I quite enjoy like the leather cleaning products mega test and the wheel shampoo one , massive amounts of data which I feel bigger channels should excel at but I do remember Forensic saying he’s not inclined to go to the effort of it all so much now as 4 or 5 other shorter videos would make him more money, that’s when a channel gets ruined like Paul Dolden’s , chasing money v what they started the channel for in the first place 😵‍💫

Particularly like the tip about topping it up with a manual spray- new subscriber as the video was spot on for me as a bit of a (overly) keen amateur 😊

Great video, both are great products and cost effective! If it's 1:10 dilution ratio, maybe we can just put them straight up undiluted in a foam cannon? It's also roughly 1:10 coming out of the foam lance.

Someone once made a dilution chart for what the lance dial can do on top of the canon, I couldn’t get my head around it but going with what my lance delivers it’s roughly 16L per 1L of liquid in the lance bottle and that makes a PIR of 5.88% , turning the top dial round maybe a full turn could probably get you to 10-1 I think 🤔

Hi again, I posted a couple of days ago advising I'd just bought this model pressure washer. I did a flow rate by spraying into a sealed bucket. I only got 6.4L/min which is not as good as I thought it would be and well below their stated specs. Have you ever tested yours? I also tested with better hose and gun but didn't see any difference in flow. I've emailed karcher asking why this might be.

Hi mate, I haven’t actually done the test myself and it’s interesting that you are finding the flow a little less than stated, did you use any nozzles on the gun as you measured the amount of water collected?

@@GMDetailsI've got a few different nozzles. I used the karcher hose and gun first, then with an uberflex hose and mtm short gun, with no better performance. The manual says 7.5 to 8 3LPM Max. At less than 6.5 it's too weak for me. I've emailed Karcher for a response 2 days ago but no response yet. Will be taking this back if r there's no fix.

@rooboy99 could you try a last attempt without any nozzles on the gun as they restrict the flow, hopefully that gives you a better result 🤞

@@GMDetailsI would assume the minimum flow rate would be with the supplied lance and nozzle, as noone is using it without it. Thx for the reply mate. Also, does your hose have aquastop connectors? I've seen videos saying to not use aquastop connections. But the manual on this model says, "hose couplings made of metal with aquastop can damage the pump, please use plastic couplings or Karcher brass couplings". So it's not clear if plastic couplings with aquastop is not recommended.

Great video as always mate, there is a total lack of good detailing videos to watch at the moment so was glad to see this pop up. Great demonstration of how to use a product

@@GMDetails thanks mate but as you know from our chats, there’s far to many people that just want to say everything is great to get free stuff and it diminishes a genuine review of a product and for that reason I’m just not interested in making detailing related content.
