Ever since Neil passed I get so emotional even watching this. With regards to these arrangements and the marching patterns what blows my mind is the amount of time this sort of excellence takes. Excellence just like Rush. This was Top tier. Absolutely astounding.

When Tom Sawyer came out in 1980 I bought Moving Pictures. I never thought I would hear it played at the 2022 Rose Bowl by the best marching band in the land. That could only mean one thing, I'm very old now.

I didn't see the halftime shoe, you see the time it took to put on these shows I don't understand why they won't show college halftime shows. Listening to commentators all night yakiddy yakking all night gets me pissed. I've been a RUSH fan since I was 13yrs. old when there first album came out.

@@richardwoodford1207 hello sir, i agree with you. I have always wondered that too. We hear enough football a week leading up to games, and the week after the games, but they dont show the bands at halftime. Those bands are sometimes more exciting and professional than the football teams. They work just as hard, if not harder, and they make no money, if its pro. Bands provide the schools spirit. I know that many college football teams love, support and acknowledge their bands, but at the pro levels, the bands dont get any recognition at all. I used to drum in the h.s. marching band, and we were awesome. We were disciplined and won trophies for every category a band can win. How proud i was and the love and fun was out of this world. Hey sir, have you ever marched in any bands, are you a musician? Just wondering, coz if so, im sure you can relate to my comment. Lol. Hopefully you can add to it Thank you sir and Happy new year. Peace and love, Glen

Great band, wow. I am a huge RUSH fan, this band did an EXCELLENT SHOW 👏. I LOVE IT. THANK YOU OHIO STATE. Ive been drumming my whole life. And listenning to RUSH since the 80s. Ive been drumming to RUSH since the late 80s. I enjoy watching drummers on KZbin who play the drums to RUSH. It doesnt matter if you are good or not. I give you high respect to those drummers just for attempting it, and to many who succeed in playing each and every drum part, fill and rhythms that our PROFESSOR created and played. This band did just that, and played it very well. For a marching band to pull this off as well as they did, dam, they have finess. Thanks OHIO STATE MARCHING BAND. I wish i could hear the whole drum line in this video. I wish i heard more bass drums and tenor drums, ( quads). I can just barely hear the cymbals at certain times in this show. The drumline instructors wrote very nice stuff. Its very hard to play drums to a RUSH tune, and then to write a drumline score to Rush songs fir a drum line in a marching band, WOW...!!!! Much respect to those instructors, Writers and players. At first. I wondered how well the writers and instructors knew RUSH and their music. I was wondering how well the drumline instructors knew the drum parts that Neil played. I respectfully wish i heard the whole line. The horns were very loud. From what i could hear, and make out, The drumline is very tight, and solid. The line uses excellent dynamics. Their rolls are very sweet, and clean. The accents and rim shots sound perfect. Well done drummers. I love the tuning of the line. I cant hear the bass drums, but the snares and from what i hear with the quads. Wow, they are tuned very nice. Imo. Thanks to everyone for playing so well. I wish the line did other parts instead of the dble strokes, and used more ideas from the songs. Its not easy, but it could be done. I did it when i taught at several high school lines. I used bass parts from Geddy for the bass lines, and parts from YES, and IRON MAIDEN to play on each others drums, w stick work for drum solos. I used cool dance songs and applied it to the cadences, which slammed i thought so, lol. I liked it. The kids had fun and rocked. Overall this was FABULOUS. the whole band is FANTASTIC. I understand that many parts from a prog rock band might not fit in a marching band setting, but it mostly can be done. I did it. I enjoyed the drum solo. It would have been cool to use some cowbells, temple blocks. Etc. Lol. In the drum solo. Haaa haaa. As for the cymbals, i could only hear a few crashes and chokes. I can hear very well, and listen for Certain notes that were played, not played and should be played. I always want more. But who doesnt, lmao. Sometimes more is to much, and always leaving them wanting more, i get it. GOD BLESS YOU, 🙌. GOD gave this band a beautiful gift. PEACE AND LOVE, RESPECTFULLY YOURS, GLEN

People on the side of this stadium gonna have to see this performance being done UPSIDE DOWN. Anyway, tell me in the year 1990 (or even 2000) that a major college football marching band would pay tribute to such a band as RUSH, I'd say this was just PIPE DREAMING, some major WISHFUL THINKING on their part. But here it is in some ASTOUNDING SPLENDOR.
