If you haven't considered this already... using the dodger to collect rain water is what some people do. Utilizing a rope to direct the water into the bucket. You can then (if you feel it necessary) boil it and drink the distilled water or just drink it plain (how clean is the dodger :P). You could easily use that for washing/cleaning dishes straight out of the bucket.
@SailingUma5 жыл бұрын
We've thought about it. The problem is, offshore it rough conditions, everything is VERY salty, and we never had a strong enough rain to really wash it all off. On anchor is different, but if we're on anchor, we're near land and most likely near a free water source.

Awesome guys! LOVE THE SLO-MO!!! :-D It’s wonderful to see you both in such good spirits after nine days at sea! BTW, that’s a wonderful idea for a frugal shower! I thought using a solar shower was the best, but now I’m not so sure... I lay a solar shower on deck in the sunlight (I don’t fill it right up, because it gets WAY TOO HOT! So, half filled is the go and then top it up with cold water to regulate the temperature). I then hang it from a headsail halyard high enough to give me good pressure. The capacity is around 20 litres and the hose with the nozzle on the end has a stop-cock so you can make the water go further. I could also buy one of your pressure sprayers and fill it with the heated water, to make the water go even further! Hmmm, what a great system... Keep up the great work guys and I hope your spirits stay just as buoyant for the rest of the crossing! (Wishing you fair winds and following seas!) Cheers, Mike
