Up in the Northeast ( NY) - close relative summer flounder rarely come up more than 1 foot to strike, we need to literally bounce bucktails and soft plastics on bottom to illicit a strike. Amazing how far up halibut will rise off bottom to attack

I live in New York and fish the South Shore of Long Island. Everytime I see a halibut fishing video it reminds me of a monster fluke. My personal best is only 10 pounds so I can only imagine what reeling in one of these is like
@totalnoobfishing1753 Жыл бұрын
@@bobthompson9890 Same here Bob! LI South Shore fisherman stalking Jones and Moses regularly. 10lb fluke is a slob..I presume from a boat or that would be a world record from shore.

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

Thank you, thanks to these shots you can see how effective the two purpose-defying jigg hooks at the head of the softbait are. Because practically all fish hang securely and firmly on them. Will also use it on my softbaits, learned something again.👍👍👍

Thanks for commenting, our bite to hookup ratio improved massively after attaching the flying twin rigs. Something we learned after viewing waterwolf footage

I was surprised the halibut came up that far to get the bait. After getting the bait he probably thought 'WTF'! When you released him he thought 'that was a close one'.

I've seen halibut chasing salmon on the surface in Alaska, jumping right out of the water in following the jumping salmon. I've seen a lot of things in over 60 years on the North Pacific, Bering Sea, and Arctic Ocean.

Unless you're Commercial halibut fishing you do 😁, subsistence fishing you do only 2 halibut per person 😉. For Commercial halibut fishing you gut'em split the V section, cut the connective tissue that supports their gills, next you cut the sweet meat, and pull it all in one mass, and finally rip out their nuts.

Great footage thankyou. In New Zealand we use lures like that but we have the tail sticking up, so it's kevel with the jighead hook. We don't usually bother with stinger hooks, just the jighead hook

Hi, what's your technique to fish with this lure? Do you just let it to the bottom and then slowly reel it up to the surface ? I've just been to Senja, but we had no luck with halibut :(
