Hi Guys, Back at the bench and cracking on with painting the Perry Minitures 28mm British Zulu Wars figures. Great fun to be painting something thats not grey, green or kaki for a change and happy with results so far.
Also towards the end is a sneak peak at my CAD design skills, which have a long way to go at this point.
Also sorry for the voulme of the music in the final reveal, I dont know what went wrong in the rendering but it somehow got very loud!
Hope you are all staying safe and well, thaks for wtching.
Cheers, Glen

I used to have the same problem with eyes...the left looked good but the right was wonky. I then began making a line rather than a dot for the pupil. Then corrected any flesh the line went on to. I find now the eyes on figures are much better. We must both have some "dot affliction". :)

LOL, i will give that a try, i have read a few books that have advised to do the same but never actually thought to give it a go, thanks for the tip 👍

Hi David, thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will be doing a companion diorama down the track which will have zulus, i will be doing a scent from the Isandlwana battle, improtant to balance the wins with the losses i think 😜😜😜

@@HalidonDioramas Interesting. One point on scaling on 3d printer, I think you said 28-9mm to top of head should be base of feet to eye level. Or did I miss something?

Glen, GREAT JOB! "Welshmen never yield." Lieutenants Chard and Bromhead would be pleased with how you have prepared their troopers. Not often that two stars of a great movie end up knighted. There is just one problem with your work. ALL of your 24 Foot are right handed. Once again, us lefties (11% of the world's population) are overlooked. I hope the 24th Foot of 1879 was not discriminating against left handers and, if they were, that an appropriate protest demonstration was organized to object. E-mail to follow. Lazza.

Thanks Lazza, much appreciated mate. I hear your pain the discriminatoin against lefties is appaling and given i have been an honoury leftie for the last two months i am determined to make a stand! But not in 28mm scale, i am already going blind so converting one of themis not on the table, but i pledge to you and all other lefties on the globe, you will be represented in my next project. Also imagoine my dissapointment when researching this dio to find out that less than 1/3rd of the guys at Rorkes Drift were Welsh, my whole life has been a lie 😀😀😀

thats a great job, ive seen loads of vids lately where they dont use a wash and i dont like it so i was very pleased to see you use a wash at the end to make your figures look much better. Good work fella.

Fantastic work! It's good to have you back and operating at peak efficiency again. I like your weathering, I try to aim for the subtle approach rather than having items looking as if they've had a bucket of mud thrown over them, though that can sometimes be just the right look. I must remember your method of fixing arms in place, it seems to work very well and beats sitting there like a lemon holding pieces in place while the glue sets. I'd love to have a 3D printer, but my current situation makes it impractical at the moment. Oh the things I could do! Maybe one day... Looking forward to the next video, as always. All the best!

Thanks Ian, im not so sure about peak, that may be a bit over optomistic 😝 I'm like you i prefer the more subtle weathering, unless the secne calls for much more, i have in the back of my mind a scene of a WW1 trench invasion with lots of hand to hand combat taking place but all of the figures totally covered in mud, it might look crap in doing it, but it is on the list for the future! I am extreamly lucky re the 3D printer, but then i think my wife buys me these things to keep me out of her hair 😀😀😀

Great painting jobs as always. Your skills are inspirational every time. How did you go getting onto the "Black Powder" models? I have been struggling to get them all year. Barrels are done as you have but with a small section of straight edged cylinder in the middle allowing for the band at the top and bottom of the cylinder section to be revealed as coopers rings...This gives the 'full bodied' look of a barrel with four coopers bands around it. Hope your wrist is healing well... Merry Christmas,
@HalidonDioramas
@HalidonDioramas 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Frank, very kind comment mate. Wrist is progressing although i haven't admitted the full extent of recovery to "she who must be obeyed" as yet! I have had little luck sourcing the Black Powder figures locally in Australia, very few seem to stock them and those that do have bugger all stock right now. Hopefully things start to get back to normal next year and i can get some from overseas that wont take 8 months to get here 😃

Looking good so far, just one minor quibble, they were mealy bags, ie grain not sand, waiting for the next one, like the attention to detail.
