You are right. He shows us how beautiful life can be. But he is also often serious and thoughtful. One of his pieces is called "Ich stehe mit einem Fuß im Grabe" (I stand with one foot in the grave), others mostly serve his deep devotion to God. However, his music is overwhelmingly beautiful and has great depth.

Amen, prayers for all of you, us brothers, sisters in Christ-Jesus, and for those yet to simply as Jesus simply said in the upper room before His crucifixion to "willingly" in His and from the Father's love take the, our Holy-a.k.a. perfect God's just wrath for our sin on Himself so in believing in His death burial resurrection ( As Jesus tells us in the book of John upper room discourse also, "like a grain of wheat, unless it goes it goes into the ground and dies it will not spring forth new life/growth.") We are not only forgiven but, saved, not only from again His wrath/eternal separation born a new, again given Christ-Gods eternal life/His Holy Spirit and righteousness perfect Christ like standing before Him..for all eternity Friends difficulty understanding God the Father, God, the Son-Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit? We are limited in our knowledge, abilities, even more so since/because the fall of our 1st Grand- father and Grand-mother in the book of Genesis, yet God gives us all exactly what we need to know. Take Bach's music here, even his limited earthly fallen body/mind/soul he made music that is heavenly, words cant almost express the beauty of the music he was gifted with making to share with us. Roman's 1:18 even tells us that all men, people can see enough of the attributes or character of God in all of creation and nature, and so are without excuse ( Romans 3:23). And is why God so loved us (John 3:16!!!🤗) that He sent His only son willing to die for our sins-us, buried, to rise from the grave the 3rd day, so by faith-belief, again we receive His forgiveness, eternal Christ life-the Spirit, Holy. (His love, and all His character living in us to make us more like Him until Glory, eternal heaven-life. God in 3 persons, we are given a glimpse in a rain producing cloud which has and is water in 3 forms, 1) water in liquid form: rain 2) water in solid form: ice as hail, grapple, sleet, and snow and # 3) water in gas form water vapor. We can see Gods character expressed in the complexity if all if creation itself, including last but not least us, our minds, made in His image, and music, particularly Bach's is a good example, it us heavenly, for sure, and he has been there in Heaven with God, the Lord, Jesus in His presence, and all other Christian brothers, sisters saved by God's grace in Christ alone, by faith- belief alone. As a child, or a, the dying thief on the cross that is how He gives us instantly His loving forgiveness, loving eternal life-His-The Holy Spirit. I too join in praying for us all, amen, and Maranatha!.! "Even so, come (receive us, John 14 1-2) Lord Jesus, come quickly.

Bach is truly one of the most amazingly talented & proficient composers from the Western tradition... his genius and creativity is only matched by emotive beauty of his timeless melodies, counterpoint, variation and sublime harmonies. A few years back I got a melody repeating in my head for weeks. I was also humming it much of that time as well. I knew it was Bach but I couldn't recall the source. I guessed it was most likely from one of his cantatas. But there are quite a few of them! I started going through and listening to all of the Bach that I've performed in choirs and it didn't take too long for me to find it. The melody in my head actually turned out to be from an aria in about the middle of one of his more celebrated & well-known cantatas: Wachet Auf (Sleepers, Awake). I can never remember the name of the aria for more than a few minutes... 🤣 But the melody, on the other hand, obviously has remained intact in my memory for over 20 years; and that was only from hearing it a handful of times since it was a solo piece it wasn't part of our rehearsals...
