I was born into classical music. My late dad loved Bach and played it during my infant days and I grew up to love classical music and Bach at an adult age. I had a cardiac arrest a few days ago and was rushed to the hospital where I am presently recuperating and relaxing with the same Bach’s music that my late dad loved so much; one of his favorites. To God Almighty be the glory.

Anyone who tells you that one must be “properly educated” in the technical aspects of music - or any other form of art for that matter - to be capable of enjoying it, is either full of themselves or something else. I have always struggled to grasp formal music theory. However, Bach seems to reach my soul like no school music teacher or college professor ever could. Standardized explanations and definitions become completely irrelevant to a person who is willing to see or feel truth and beauty wherever it’s encountered. I’m currently fighting through an awful health crisis and these pieces do more for my well-being and strengthen my resolve as much or more than any pill or treatment ever has. Thank you Halidon.

I agree with you 💯 I am absolutely touched to my very soul by this music .... Music is vibration so these people that say we need a full grasp of music theory to appreciate it are just silly! I appreciate this music to absolute tears.... Classical music has seen me thru health crisis and emotional traumas like nothing else... Keep listening friend ... The vibration will set everything in alignment within your body to bring about a faster healing. I'm sorry you are going thru a health crisis... It's very hard to not have our health. Much peace, love and light to you. Keep listening to classical music and your body will bloom 🌼🌅🌼🌅🌼🌅

Whatever your medical problem please accept that I wish you all the best and hope you make a full and complete recovery. My issue was one of an ill and seriously damaged soul, classical music calmed my troubled heart and soothed my pain. That we have men and women who can create such beauty, such healing sights and sounds are proof there is a God and That Deity is a kind and loving God. Blessed Be.

Bach music is considered sacred music as well! He actually was a pioneer in writing sacred music in a language other than latin, since it was only spoken by the clergy. He began to write spiritual music in German for the general public. In a way, we could say even that we have gospel and spiritual music in our languages because of Bach's revolutionary ideas! I find that fascinating!!! And also I'm so happy that after many years it still fullfills people's soul. Bless you Scott! I'm so sorry for your loss. May the Lord continue to heal your heart

You were there too? 😲 Wow! But we probably couldn't have seen each other as I was pushed to the back rows by all the rabid groupies that rushed the stage, they were crazy. The Beatles? That was nothing, everyone should have seen these fans, maaaaaan! It was one helluva show, what a performer, such a dedication and skill, and the sound was just perfect that night, hats off to the tech crew aswell. Night to remember for sure!

I used to live in Tooting, SW London where there was often lively behaviour. The tube station started to play classical music over the tannoy and the poor behaviour stopped immediately. The complete lack of silly comments here says it all really.

You are whom Bach wrote for. He wanted his work to reach everyone. (Speaking as one who has studied formally, hearing your comment is what all musicians strive to achieve. )

Everytime I encounter such beautiful music, I always recollect my old teacher who concentrated on improving his performing skills more than simply enjoy playing. He said he never had an idea to enjoy music until he knew amateur listeners like us. It still disturbs me which makes feel kinda guilty. What would Bach think if he was in 21st century?
@fisharmor6 ай бұрын
There has always been folk music that was meant for the commoners. 18th century classical composers tried to get themselves attached to a large church or to a local lord, because they were the entities that could afford orchestras and pipe organs - and since they dumped so much money into the music, they expected much more than what the commoners were listening to. It's an interesting question because one of the things the German reformers did was to make hymns by writing religious verses to popular folk songs. Bach had to have known this - a lot of his offertories and other liturgical pieces were variations on those hymns. But ultimately I think he would have been baffled that the "musicians" making all the money and getting all the prestige today are folk musicians who in many cases need a computer to correct their singing, while those who practice their craft relentlessly for their entire lives ultimately live in poverty and die in obscurity.

I think Bach had that undefinable pain laced in subliminal tranquility, which other musicians of his time lacked. Later on Mozart created magic (I am a diehard Mozart worshipper, btw) of incredible proportions. He was beauty personified, yet I find his music magically structured, thus thought provoking. True to his era, Mozart was ornamental at places as well. They were incredible, doubtless, but bore the trademarks of a highest level of genius at play. Beethoven, a bit later, reshaped music. He was an epoch maker and one needs trained ears (in most of his seminal works, though not all) and sharp intellect with a special bend of mind to comprehend him. Bach, through his voluminous works, created music journeying through transcendental realms that led to our little discovered ‘aspect’ called the Soul. He is not only a soulful musician but a musician of the soul! A little disclaimer. I started my musical journey through Bach, as a high school boy in 1988/89. Since then, his relationship with me has been permanent.
