Armed police should down arms, i would support that. It's like the military, they are scared to do their jobs. That split second of doubt can and will cost them their lives. That is not right in anyone's eyes. If i shouted and swore in the street i would be arrested and possibly spend time in prison. Especially if i state i am white British. From the outset, the Manchester airport incident involved police acting unlawfully in using excessive force. The only issue I have with the whole Kaba thing, is that the jury weren’t told about his criminal past. The police officer who shot him had his whole career and freedom on the line and those facts were kept from the jury. I feel they should have been informed and have the same knowledge the firing officer had when he chose to shoot him. Luckily he was found not guilty anyway

I agree wholeheartedly with the verdict and it shouldn't have some to court. The guy was doing his job. However, I can see why the evidence of Kaba's past never made it to the trial. Police testimony states the Audi had been boxed in by multiple police vehicles in a "hard stop". Police video shows the driver's forward and reverse movement was contained by those vehicles. As a retired police sergeant I'm still trying to work out the purpose of PCSO's (powerless plastic plods). As far as I can see they are very expensive (30K ish P.A.) mobile traffic barriers. They have very limited statutory authority plus a number of additional powers can be granted at the discretion of the chief constable. Some have minor traffic officer powers and although they don't have powers of arrest Merseyside police are training them in the use of cuffs, somewhat sinister.

Re the Gibbet, it was more of an axe head rather than a blade, the other thing was nobody wanted to be responsible for taking a life, so… The pin that held the cutting axe head in place was attached to a rope, this was tied to a horse, the horse walked away, so the horse did it ! To give the victim a sporting chance, if he could jump up when the pin was pulled and race to the town boundary, it was gods will and he was saved, but he couldn’t enter the Halifax area again, otherwise back to the Gibbet.
