IF i had to guess id say: Not hitting the CA is due to the indicator was screwed up because his engine was pushing, but his ship not moving. Same if you shoot a grounded target. Not hitting the island when you clearly launched the full spread at it is a different story. Here i´d say that the actual spreadmarker does NOT calculate in the fact that the torps are launched from a moving object. Your own speed SHOULD give them additional speed into the direction you moved...which i always assumed was compensated with the spread indicator. In a similar fashion i often saw you launch slightly PAST an island you were moving in to and yet the outer torps were destroyed because of grounding. So that would be exactly the same! This game is really full of unlogical stuff that robs the fun. Thx for pointing that out!
@forest42833 жыл бұрын
This makes a lot of sense now. Lately I've noticed my torps hitting islands when I clearly launch them in open water. I figured it had to do with them adding the ground under the water for subs - aka continuing to ruin the game - but after watching this, I can say with confidence I have experienced the same issue.

Flamu, few days ago i had a game in Halland, it was a bad struggle but the point is that near the end of battle i torped a Hipper that was low HP AFK in open water. Fully aimed tight salvo, 1 torpedo hit him and even that one clipped him on the the aft. And couse Petro was near there was no chance to finish him with guns he had to flood to death. I had no idea wft happened. Thanks for putting light on this bug, but i am not sure how if how and when is WG even gonna accept that there is a problem (let us all remember how long it took for them to accept the that there is about half a ship lenght difference between your screen and server).

Not sure if WG considers this at all, but what could serve as an explanation is since your ship is moving when launching torpedoes, these torpedoes move your ship's way for a short time due to the momentum they carry when they're launched, which gradually diminishes (rather quickly) as they travel across water, thus creating the deviation you see in the video.

I've noticed this happen a lot previously and have concluded through watching numerous matches, it's due to desync on the servers. The point of release for torps and shells gets "reset" I guess you could say and the server registers it happening in a different location than they were actually fired. This results in the shots having a visibly different angle.

@chriscross11392 жыл бұрын
A well above average speed can be noticed in almost every game when you move constantly. I don't think that the game scales distances realistically like a ship that's 2 km away is extremely close in game, but in real life you would have a totally different experience(the ship would look a lot smaller if it is about 2km away😉😉).

From the replay clip it looks like it might be the server desync issue rearing it's ugly head again, by the time the client catches up the halland's moved and the torps appear in the water parallel to where they were launched, but off target. The torps "curving" is an optical illusion caused by the 2 sets of torps crossing each other en route to the target.
@Hillbilly_Papist3 жыл бұрын
The game seems to calculate hits prior to when the shells / torps actually reach the target. I've seen where I fire at a ship within 5 km and it's destroyed before the shells actually reach the ship.

My guess is that its caused by the new Underwater terrain. The water closer to the island is probably more shallow and torps are probably coded in some weird way to prefer the "deeper" water causing them to curve along that underwater shoreline?

@steffenrumpel27843 жыл бұрын
3:50 - The torp issue does seem to make some sense to me. Your ship was sailing perpendicular away from the island at approx. 33 kts. When aiming directly at the point of intended impact, the torps will start to accelerate in that direction. However, since your ship was still moving in another direction, the tops will also initially have some speed in the direction of your ship's movement. So what you have is that the actual direction of your torps should be the result of adding two speed vectors. . I don't play WoWS, but if you can set up some training instance, you should be able to easily test this: (1) While being stationary, aim your torps at a specific point on an island. (2) While sailing perpendicular to the same spot on the island, at top speed, shoot another set of torps from the same spot. -- The first set should hit the spot, while the 2nd should miss it. . Either way, from a gameplay point of view, it does feel a little bugged.

4:54: Could it be that the torpedo's take the forward motion of the Halland into account? And would deviate in the direction that the Halland is going... thus missing the island (and the DM)? Though I do think that the torps have a rng-system to enable target ships to find their way through, when nose in.
@tomschafer23783 жыл бұрын

Wait, couldn't Flamu have gone into free cam while viewing this game replay in order to actually follow directly behind that set of torps for the entire travel/run time so we could literally witness in real time the moment and way in which the game started to alter those torp's original flight path? Theoretically if he free looked and followed just behind that torp salvo from the very instant that they were launched, then we should have been able to actually watch as the torps started to deflect or bend away from their initial path... I'm surprised Flamu didn't take the time to do that in the replay actually, since that's the first thing I'd do is watch the replay and free look spectate those torps to see exactly wtf happened there.. I'm curious whether the game literally bent their flight path in a semi-circular shape over time changing their course, or if the game just applied a one time instantaneous course change by kicking the torp's flight path to the left or right by some given angle therefore creating more of a quick angular course adjustment vs. a gradually curved bending path.

This does look like some server desync. Because of the very low angle on the DM, you can easily miss entirely if you launch wrong. My best guess that they only appear to curve later on instead of immediately, maybe they switch to server render once torpedoes are close to another ship?
