HR is a legend. That quality is not cheap though. Some say the interior is dated, but it's well proven over many years.

Would you say this boat would make a world cruiser, or would you suggest a full keel would be better?

I've owned a Dufour 40 performance for 12 years so I find it surprising that you like the speed and comfort of the HR37. I had always thought they would be slow and would roll around a lot but you've sailed many more boats than me, so I'm wondering what you think about this: Cruising the English Channel, Biscay, Ireland and Scotland, often with children on board in my late 60s should I choose a Hallberg Rassy 40 or something modern, wide and light such as a Dufour 412 or even a J133?

A lot of it will come down to personal preference and budget etc. I suggest have close look and ideally a test sail of a few yachts that you are considering. An older heavier yacht will be more sea-kindly whereas a more beamy modern yacht will have more room onboard. It's just about deciding what's most important to you.

Would love to crew for you and help with your deliveries. I'll be aiming to get my skipper ticket early next spring. Sailing and racing Flying Fifteens and would love to sail big boats as I'm wanting experience before I buy my first yacht.
