Halle, this was the perfect reminder for me! I spend the whole schoolyear talking about how excited and ready I was to spend this summer alone - no roommates, most of my friends out of town - just me and my dog. It's easy to run away when things get a little uncomfortable. It's especially easy to run away from yourself haha. Thanks for persevering and giving me the nudge to do so myself.

Ive struggled with being alone and felt anxiety when nobody of my friends could go out with me..then I forced myself to stay alone, to hang out with myself, I forced myself to use that time to improve myself, to learn new skills and just to enjoy the dead times actually. Now I feel so good. No more need to have people around, if they can hang out is amazing but I don't have that need that make me feel anxiety. Enjoy your time alone, it is gonna be wonderful!! And boredom stimulates creativity!!!

I relate with wanting to go home vs staying by myself. I was also really looking forward to my chill time by myself. I decided to go home for two months of the summer and then I'll go back by myself for the last month and a half. Halle…you have no idea how happy your vlogs make me. I am almost 30 now and I went to BC in Boston. Boston was an epicenter of “singularity” in my early 20s and even though you are in what appears to be the deep South you have captured the same spirit I had up in Boston. Romantic, poetic, flavored with the past whilst embracing the future. I was the girl who shoved a vintage armoire in my dads rental to be sure I had the right feel in my dorm. I had plants all over my dorm, vintage items and antiques, my Polaroid I would take to art museums and spend hours in alone, or with the company of a fine gent or two, and listen to music and zone out in my own world that offered me anything and everything. oh yes, I was vegan right around when it was becoming cool. Still am too. I write, if you read this, to let you know that girl grew up, married a lover boy from Greece, who does have the sexiest accent around. He took me all over the world, we traveled, lived in an RV for almost a year then got married in a beautiful village near an island. Following, well, we added a little son into the mix, moved in to the middle of nowhere and now have a peaceful, on the outside dull, but heavily romanticized reality where pain still exists, but it is always followed by joy. You may not find it right away, but as soon as I stopped looking everything came into my life exactly as it was intended to. All the ones I thought were right, weren’t. And my true love, so to speak, walked into my life when (I was living in West Hollywood at the time) I was working for all the right people and gaining access to everything I had worked toward. He was just around, in a way I couldn’t avoid and suddenly I found myself running into him all the time until we both decided it was worth a shot even though he barely spoke English and I barely spoke Greek. We started out almost like “wing mates” and would try to help the other find the one but eventually we knew, and it was the most glorious blossom of love I will ever know. Your vlogs are epic in the “As You Like It” Shakespearean sort of way..campy, fun and well crafted. As someone who went to film school after Boston, I can say you have a gift that ain’t easily gotten. My directing style was dramatic, overdrawn, you manage to make it easy, while having the same volume. Impressive. Something I couldn’t do.. All my love Halle, from a girl who grew up a little more and resized “it does get more lovely with time”… Oh and yes, I binge watched S&C too, except I was 15…so, corrupted early. And no that show isn’t how you want your 30s to play out. Romance is far more endearing. Commitment, loyalty, it gets better when we get better in how we love. Love is deeply rooted in humility, like a dance. if you want to immerse yourself, step into older cinematic culture. I’ll let you do your own search, and leave you to carry on..but remember that love is also a dance with your own pride. If you can let it go, then you will surely see love grow.
