+cynthia lin You are positive and relaxed, and even though you only have a short period, you break it into small progressive chunks. I also like that you give some short cuts to make smoother transitions.

Cynthia, I want to say thank you for starters. I'm an old guy who decided to go back to school and working on trying to get accepted to a Veterinarian program, I am married with two teenage boys, and I work for two non-profits. I decided, I needed some self-care! My dad and brother are guitarist. I couldn't hang with the metal strings. So I thought why not the Uke! I'm not sure what took me so long but, you have definitely inspired me. You have shown me, a way to release my stress. You have amazing energy, and that is why your Ukulele Day's record took off like you said it did. I see much more success for you. I have a small fantasy of becoming the first famous Kansas Uke player (laughing)! The sad thing is, the midwest isn't up to speed, when it comes to music so there could be a chance (laughing even harder). The day I receive my first paycheck as a Vet, I'll show you my gratitude. Until then I hope my shares and my clicks help! I do have a question for you! Your [ C - D ] , you say 3 plucks/ strums for the C in the brackets, but that's where I'm confused. If you pluck 3 beats, then your only plucking the top 3 strings correct, the G, C, E string? If so, what's the point of the C chord, since its on the A string? I mean no disrespect, so please don't misunderstand me. Can you just hover over the D? Or are you skipping a string somewhere? Meaning strumming only C, E, A strings, C, G, A strings, or G, E, A strings? I have been blessed with the ability of using the Right and Left side of the brain, So I have creativity with a lot of analytical questions. I tried looking at your fingers but couldn't quite see what your pinky was doing. Thanks so much for taking time out to answer my question. Take care and I wish you much more continued success.

I love so much about how you break down the "most challenging transitions" into bite-size learn-able pieces... That's the deal maker for me compared to other tutorials.

For D, I use fingers 132 rather than 123 (it makes the 2nd fret seem less crowded for me). Then transferring to Em is easy - simply slide 3 and 2 down the strings into position while, at the same time, move 1 across to the bottom string of the same fret.

Well I've heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? Well it goes like this: The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Well your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to her kitchen chair And she broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah But baby I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor You know, I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Well there was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me do ya But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah

Awww lady Cynthia Aloha! I was given a soprano Uke for my 63rd birthday, as arthritis makes playing guitar harder every year, on these cold Albion shores, and this little gem really is much more manageable. As I started getting to grips with my little Uke, I searched on YT and came across your channel. Well.. what a joy! YOU are a born teacher, and have style and grace aplenty, madame! Thanks to you I am getting to grips with this, one of my favourite songs of all time, though I prefer the Jeff Buckley version to Leonard Choen's, but then who wouldn't... Jeff made this his anthem and it would make the dead shiver... and he gone to join them all these years :'( THANK YOU! I could SO hug you 'till you squeak! :D I hope to teach the Uke to my granddaughters - though not fro a while, as they're only little now. Incidentally, in G this song has WAY more pathos than I the rather plain C cover original. Willing all Hawaii safe in these anxious days of smoke, fire and eruptions! Aloha!
