I was just completing the 1st lap of the 4th session when this happened. This was the first time I had my new 2016 ZX10R on the track and was just trying to get some seat time and figure it out. Haven't even received my race fairings for it yet. I actually only had 2 sessions on it before this one as I took my 2014 ZX10R race bike out in the 2nd session instead of this one. Please respect the blend line. I feel so lucky we were both injury free minus a few bumps and bruises. Here's another angle starting around 4:10:

Come on man!!! Why pull all the way across a hot track when you're waaayyy off the pace bro? It's been awhile since I've seen this happen, and it just shouldn't. Hey guy on the R1, what exactly is the signal for I'm fixing to pull an all-time bone-head move and cause an easily avoidable accident? Well handled ZX10R guy. I'd have just lost it when he replied that he'd given me "a clear signal".

The way you reacted shows class and experience. It would have been easy to reacted and taken it out on the other guy. I am sure we haver all been on Trackdays and made mistakes to accidently cut someone's line. The other rider is in the wrong and the disappointing fact is that on the track no one is liable. I would love to see that law change so that all riders would be more considerate if each other. A better person would offer to pay or at least contribute to the repair. Good luck with the repairs and this season.

@vmdirt
@vmdirt 7 жыл бұрын
I believe we came together around 100 and I believe I hit the tires at somewhere between 60 and 65 which is what was on the speedometer about the time I put it on the ground. It's down hill there so it's hard to slow down on grass with slicks. On top of that I hadn't disabled my rear ABS yet because I hadn't gotten the dongle to do that. With ABS on the rear brake is useless. To be honest, afterwords I felt lucky I was able to get it on the ground as easily as I did with ABS enabled.

Also, that track seems to need a better longer blend line. That's way too short. Might help reduce the risk of this kind of stupidity.
@kenjohnson9969
@kenjohnson9969 3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. By having the entrance just before the turn, collisions from blend line infractions happen at MUCH slower speeds. People are told emphatically at rider’s meetings not to cross the track before turn one, since there is no need for a wide entry at such slow speed. But occasionally, some idiot swings across the track anyways. Imagine how much more deadly that would be if the entrance was further back, and guys already on the track hadn’t already been braking. It doesn’t matter how long the blend line is if some idiot just crosses right over it. When the entrance is on the left, and turn one is a left, a shorter entrance is safer because the entering bike is slower, and does need a wide approach to the turn.

He says "They gave me a clear signal", not "I gave a clear signal". Is it normal at this track that the marshals tell you when the track is clear? Even if so, you should damn well shoulder check, but it seems odd. Clear to leave the pits does not mean clear track!
@rizzors25
@rizzors25 8 жыл бұрын
They might wave you on but I've never been on a track where the hold you up before going out. It's your responsibility to stay as far off the line as possible when entering the track and absolutely look over your shoulder make sure no one is coming. It's your responsibility as the new rider on track to look out for guys putting down laps. That's just standard practice

I'm just trying to add an objective view here and not taking sides BUT, first of all it's not a race, it's a lap day. Second of all there's no question that the rider entered the track and moved into the race line without following protocol. Knowing that BOTH riders are advanced riders I'm thinking that the rider on the ZX10R should have taken more evasive action before it came to this. I personally saw the rider coming onto the track WAYYYYY back up there. Especially on a track day when "Advanced" is....somewhat questionable I NEVER count on the other riders seeing me OR doing it properly everytime. I've had this very thing happen and trust me it's not acceptable BUT with at least ONE set of eyes working (in this case, the oncoming rider) this should have been avoided. It sucks that you crashed your bike and yes he was in the wrong, but in the end...SAVE YOUR ASS and let them make their mistakes. It's gonna happen on lapping days and we each need to be the most experienced rider on the track. Just my opinion and not pointing fingers at all.

Not sure who's fault it is.. On one hand the Yamaha rider steered really hard to the right. On the other hand he said he had signaled, and the Kawasaki rider could be a bit more cautious since he saw him in front of him for 5 seconds.
@rautry2609
@rautry2609 7 жыл бұрын
It's both of their faults. Noob coming on the track blended way too fast, the guy on the Kawi had PLENTY of time to prepare for what was coming and avoid it. BOTH riders need to understand that in this situation. The object is to prevent this stuff even if one person isn't watching the other should be. Been doing this for a while and it could have been avoided by EITHER person.
@tgoods5049
@tgoods5049 7 жыл бұрын
HyperSport 100% fault of Yamaha. Kawi was riding the regular race line, doing nothing wrong. Stay off the race line until you are up to speed.
@rautry2609

So your saying that the person on the track has NO responsibility to observe other riders on the track OR coming onto the track and take evasive maneuvers even if it ends in his own demise? I don't follow the logic here. It's just my opinion of course but if one rider can take evasive action to prevent an accident and doesn't then it becomes partly his fault no matter how foolish the other rider may be. At that point it kinda makes them BOTH foolish.

The rider in front was NOT at fault. On the track it is 100% the rider BEHINDS responsibility, otherwise you would need mirrors and looking behind you all the time and have to GIVE WAY on the race track.

@MT--WesleyCrumblebee 8 жыл бұрын
+Jack Jerenore (johnrambo12765) Mate get some track time before talking. Yes in most all cases it is the rider behinds duty to pass safely, EXCEPT when leaving pit lane. It is in every rider briefing to head check for riders coming up the straight and to merge safely, and not along the racing line. The R1 rider pulled out without checking, directly onto the racing line with a 100+ speed differential. On no track in the world would this be the ZX10s fault.
@fat_biker
@fat_biker 8 жыл бұрын
+Jack Jerenore (johnrambo12765) Not at fault for leaving the pits, but definitely at fault for pulling on to the racing line at way less than the prevailing speed, and indeed from crossing the 'do not cross this line' line to get there...

The zx10 should have waited, now hes banned from the track
@fat_biker
@fat_biker 8 жыл бұрын
+Jack Jerenore (johnrambo12765) Merthinks you fundamentally misunderstand the situation. When somebody joins or leaves a track, it is their responsibility to do so safely, and there are even lines painted on the track surface to tell the joining rider where or where not to go. Riders on the main straight would need to slow down to 30 mph to be sure that they could avoid joining riders if they were to be held responsible for when somebody pulls out of the pits in 2nd gear and straight onto the racing line in front of them. Which rather defeats the whole point of being on a track. This is not the street, very different rules apply. And no, the ZX10 rider is not banned from the track. The BMW rider might be, probably should be for a while.
