D'Vontaye Mitchell: under no circumstance should hotel security EVER manhandle a guest or visitor to the property. Proper procedure is to isolate the person until authorities arrive. If there was manslaughter it occurred at the direction or negligence of hotel management. I don't personally see the incident as racially motivated but racial tension may have escalated the interaction and by ALL means no human should be treated that way without question. I have worked in guest services at hotels and personally witnessed the dealings with unruly persons at a Crowne Plaza hotel where i was a front room waiter for three years. You NEVER manhandle a person on your premises. It is an instant liability nightmare and management was at fault without question. If the hotel has any sense whatever they will admit to inadequate training and settle with the family. If they do not they will be facing FIVE lawsuits; one from the MItchell family and one from each of the employees for placing those employees in danger with inadequate training.
