@Orlando Gomez That was only in the Unrated Cut,also if you watch the TV version of the 1978 original Loomis clearly states Michael can speak but chooses not to on his killing sprees!Also,both Friday The 13th and Halloween were heavily influenced by Psycho,the Friday the 13th sequels,Rob Zombie Halloween reboot films and Freddy Vs. Jason just made those connections really hit home that much harder!

The Hospital scene in the beginning (Which turned out be a dream... God damn it!) was by far the strongest point of the movie, especially when Michael finds an axe (I was actually hoping that he would get a few kills with the axe but by then I had already figured out it was a dream.) after that it went downhill. But there are three things that annoyed me: Making Michael talk...There is a reason why he never talks, Unmasking him... The entire reason why he wears a mask is to emotionally distance himself from people, and what the hell is up with the "Ghosts" that haunt Laurie? They also ripped off the story of "Do it for Mother" from Friday the 13.

I'm 4 years late on this vid but great critique, very quick and straight to the point. One thing I appreciate is that this was a remake and not a direct shot-for-shot rehash of the original sequel. The ghost wife/horse crap was visually striking as well. It felt like a music video at times.

In all honesty, I think there should be a reboot. Closer to the tone of the first two Halloween films with the best elements of the Jamie Lloyd Trilogy (4, 5 and 6) with a much greater emphasis on good consistent characterization, effective scares / thrills, a straightforward but well-written plot and of course, the evil Michael Myers represents.

Yea Halloween 9 was supposed to be the end of the story. It was supposed to have Laurie son, Stephen aka Michaels son/nephew, Loomis son or daughter and the returning Sarah from Halloween resurrection to finally finish Michael off after he escaped from the morgue. But stupid fans complained about Resurrection which was awful but entertaining at the same time. Well it was awfully great. The mask is probably one of the best, some of the scenes were funny and memorable, the acting was meh, but I think sarah was the one that actually did a good job acting. Busta was awful but entertaining and most likely has the most funny unintentional scene where he got tyra banks killed. Lowkey felt like he knew that was the real Michael so he had to save his own life so he can try to get himself out the house. 😂😂but as the storyline showed. He didn't know. You see Resurrection was a bad movie but it one of those bad movies that you can go back and watch because it was something different from the rest of the series and entertaining. Oh one thing is that. They didn't change anything about Michael..unlike RZ🙄😑 but yea When they decided to do H20, the actual plan was a final trilogy. H20 then Ressurection then Halloween 9: Retribution. But good job to the fans for giving birth to Rob Zombies who stripped Michael of his Mysterious identity and made him a white trash talking wanna be Jason Voorhees with my mom telling who to kill, piece of shit.

I love this movie. I don't understand the hate for this movie. I would rank this one as my favorite movie in the series, and in front of Halloween (2007)Halloween (1978), and Halloween 4 (1988). I'll admit, there are some bad things about this movie, mainly in the Director's Cut. Such as Michael yelling "DIE!" at Loomis, and the worst part of this version is when Laurie got killed in the end, because she is my favorite character in the remakes. I don't particularly like Loomis being a snob the whole time. It's not Malcolm McDowell's fault, it's the way the character was written. I prefer the Theatrical Edition because Laurie lives in the end. I like the psychological disturbance with Laurie, because it shows how much the last movie's events had affected her, and to me, it made her more sympathetic. I think Scout Taylor-Compton is a better Laurie Strode because I can identify more with her the characters in the remakes because I'm at the age the characters are in these movies, and they react to things very well and much like people would act like in this day and age. I think she's a great actress, and she plays Laurie really well. I didn't mind the White Horse thing or Michael walking around unmasked for the first half of the movie. Some of the deaths in this movie, especially Annie's death, was really sad and depressing. I respect the opinions of anyone who hates this movie, but I will always like it. This movie is very intense, entertaining, cool, and rewatchable. 10/10 rating for me.

Marty McFly People have different opinions dude. Halloween (1978) is one of my favorite films of all-time, I absolutely love the franchise. I own all of the film's on Blu-ray and I have t-shirts and other Halloween-inspired merch. Now that I have my "credibility" established, I think H2 (2009) is fucking fantastic.

I do enjoy it. It's a fun movie. Very stylistic and had some good atmosphere. That being said though, I don't think it's a good Halloween movie. The soundtrack was pretty good but it felt a little insulting to not even remake any of the original scores. I donno, I can watch this movie but not if I'm in the mood to watch a more legit version of Michael Myers. I think the biggest problem with this movie, overall, is that it IS a Halloween movie. If you ask me, Zombie should have just made his own original slasher and put him in Michael's place, then tweaked the script a little to fit that idea.

@Eric Moss I agree.Rob Zombie`s films are essentially a giant middle finger to the Thorn saga and whilst I didn`t mind the Thorn trilogy as much as a lot of people did it took away Michael`s mystique long before the Rob Zombie Films did.And for the record,I`m probably the only person who thinks H20 was worse than Ressurrection.At least Ressurrection was entertainingly bad to an extent,H20 was pretentious,butchered Laurie Strode`s character by reducing her to a Sidney Prescott clone with a kid and that CGI mask in that one scene was an unforgivable sin!You do not do that to The Shape,no just fuck to the no!The Rob Zombie Films made Michael more brutal than ever and gave him more organic motivations for being a psychopathic serial killer than The Sequels,I also didn`t mind Loomis`s portrayal.People forget that Loomis had his fair share of "What the hell,hero?" moments in the classic Halloween Films as well(Using a little girl as bait to draw out a psychopathic serial killer with occult abilities,much?)Rob Zombie also stated in interviews Loomis was meant to come off as "phoney" and unsympathetic until the climax..Again,even in the older films it was implied that Loomis`s obsession with Michael had caused some of his patient`s sociopathic traits to rub off on him.

Itd be amazing if John came back. I always liked Akkad even though some of the decisions they make for Halloween are dumbfounding. I think its because they aren't movie fans as much as they are businessmen and yet they have always (even through the bad decisions) been able to keep Michael alive for better or worse. Its always fun to look forward to a new Halloween movie even though you know its probably gonna suck. lol.... its the hope that keeps us going!

Here or a few observations I had on this one: *It's already been said, the first 30-40 minutes felt like a Halloween film, at least until that stupid reveal. *I like Michael McDowell as an actor. But, I did want to punch Loomis is his smug fucking face quite a few times. *The Annie Brackett kill was one of the most brutal deaths in any of the Halloween films that we never really get to see. I thought that scene was done well. *Sheri Moon Zombie needs to not act...ever. Her job is to suck Rob's dick, smoke a lot of weed, and spend his money. *I would love to see Zombie collaborate with a talented writing team and director. He could be the cinematographer and executive producer. Just a thought. Anyway, keep up the good work guys. Rex

The Original series, was great! I loved Halloween 1,2,4,5,6,7. Resurrection was dumb when the killed off Laurie, but I would like to see them continue with the ORIGINAL series. Halloween 3 only if it's in 3D (Halloween 3D) cuz it'll be different and it has to have suspense. No more Rob. Continue it with Laurie and Loomis and Michael but make Loomis nice again and Laurie somewhat sane cuz I wouldn't be surprised if Rob had the idea of Laurie killing Annie or the therapist in this film considering how she acted towards them. 2.0 for me.

You guys are usually spot on with your reviews but I think you completely missed the point of this movie. Assuming you only watched the Theatrical version, I recommend you check out the Unrated Director's Cut which is much better and vastly different. This is the 10th Halloween movie of the franchise and you guys are complaining that it tries to be different from the others? Come on now, did you forget that in Zombie's version that Michael Myers is just a man? Yes, not just some walking corpse, he is a real person with a beard. Watch the Director's commentary for the unrated version and I guarantee your minds will be slightly changed at the very least. Zombie states numerous times that his version of Michael Myers is meant to be very different from 1-8. H2(2009) is probably the 2nd best of the franchise, easily better than H20, Resurrection, Season of the witch, and the 2007 remake.

I wish Rob Zombie would direct a remake of Halloween III. I was highly anticipating Lords of Salem because I thought I would get a glimpse of what that would look like, buuut that movie was a pile of shit. Halloween III could easily adapt to the gritty style of horror that Rob Zombie directs. I believe that if he can work with the producers and not get all pretentious on our asses like he did with H2 that it would be a GREAT movie.

I couldn’t agree more! Beyond the fact it’s completely devoid of resembling anything Halloween Brad Douriff was the best part of that film him and Danielle Harris. They are literally the only redeeming characters in that steaming pile of shit. It’s such a convoluted film that doesn’t even know where it’s going it goes well past what zombie did with the first film which surprisingly makes the first look good in comparison. Rob zombie very rarely has likable characters and I don’t understand why he wants his characters to be so expendable? I mean if you have next to no likable characters in your films well then you pretty much lost the connection with your audience.
