Pausing this video halfway through to say PLEASE switch to your new machine 😅 I used to have this exact machine and always wondered why life was so hard. Switched to a Brother that was a little bit more expensive and it’s been smooth sailing ever since! A top load in bobbin is a life saver (which I assume your brother machine would have) K that’s all just had to tell you that you’re not dumb that machine stinks. Love you! lol ❤

As someone who’s been sewing for over 20 years, here’s my advice. Open and learn the new sewing machine. It seems like your old machine may need serviced and hopefully the new machine has a newer simplified bobbin system. I fought with my old sewing machine for 12 years before I upgraded and looking back I wish I would’ve done it sooner.

You should switch to the new machine because fighting with your sewing machine all the time isn’t normal. I’m a beginner at sewing and never fight with my machine. The actual sewing part is supposed to be the fun part! Cutting and pinning in the annoying part

(lauren, if you hold the top thread - usually i just hold it down on the bed on my machine - it will grab the bobbin thread! it needs tension!)

I hated and fought with my sewing machine so much. I had a new electronic version, and I recently switched to an old manual singer 301a straight stitch and have not had a problem since. Mine doesn't have a zig zag without attachments, but somendoband old manual machine was the way to go for me.

My aunt recently took her sewing machine to Joannes to get it looked at. She was having similar issues. They referred her to a specialist that repairs machines. He tightened a lot of the parts on the machine and said that a lot of the newer machines are not made as well. I would recommend finding someone in your area to look at your machine.

Hi Lauren😃! Long-time watcher and sewing girlie here (aka fashion school grad and now fashion school lecturer). Every person I've ever known with a Singer machine has always struggled with it 😅. If you already have a Brother machine, PLEASE USE IT. It's far more user friendly and I think/hope it'll make you hate sewing a little less❤
