Here’s our 2017 Halloween house projection seen in a wider shot. Sometimes it gives a better understanding of the effect a house projection can deliver. Even when fighting the moon lighting up the house from a clear sky.

Hi Joseph. Thanks for watching. A lot of the animations are from AtmosFX, but all the compositing and the house animation itself is my own work. :)

Thanks, Callum. I've kind of dug myself in a hole here, because I don't think I can improve further without a professional projector and those run in multiple thousands of dollars. But a Christmas show, you say. Hmmmmm....I'll think about it. :)

Hi Steve. Thanks for watching and the nice words. I'm using a BenQ MX819ST projector. It's a "Short Throw" projector made for smaller rooms or offices, so it spreads the image wider than an ordinary projector. So for this projection, it's placed only about 15 yards from the house wall. The software is a mix of Photoshop (to create the different textures) and Adobe After Effects (to edit, assemble and composite all the elements that make the finished video) and Cinema4D for the 3D effects, like the opening of the garage door.

So you map your house do you every detail? Is that how u make it look all old ? Once you map what software do you use for making it look old?

Hi TheMeli81. I do map every detail, but you don't really have to. Once I have the map, I google the internet for images of old wooden walls or boards, that I modify a bit in Photoshop and then insert into my map of the house in After Effects. That was the short version. I hope it makes sense. :)

Hi Jared. Thanks for stopping by. I use a mix of different software: Photoshop for textures and elements, Cinema4D for the 3D effects, After Effects for bringing it all together and animating it and finally Final Cut Pro for the audio.

Hi there, thanks for watching my video. Yes, I'd recommend a "Short Throw" projector like mine even if your house is just a single story. Otherwise, you'll most likely have to place the projector out in the street. Look on eBay for "Short Throw Projetor" and about 3000 lumens. There's many affordable ones out there. :)
