Y'know, a few weeks ago I almost considered asking Billy if Halloween III was on the docket, since it seemed like a totally PST film to cover. Turns out he was thinking the same thing. Also, those French-Canadian horror-game books were pretty much CYOAs, and while I've read a few CYOAs in my time, I remember Caverns of the Snow Witch most vividly of all. Partly because it was basically a D&D CYOA, though I never played it like D&D since I didn't have a d20 in the house.

david would win in a fight against a horse, if he had full access to his human intellect over a long period of time. he could stalk the horse, create a weapon to use against the horse, find the horse's weak points, then strike the horse at the correct time. the thing is, he proposed it like a hand-to-hand fight, in which the horse could win. horses are basically living cars. the primary relevant difference between a horse and a car is, cars don't have a throat to slit.

The problem is David is suggesting he could beat a horse with punches and kicks, not wielding a spear or a sword, or any weapon but just hand to hand combat with a horse, I mean sure with weapons and preparations, its possible, a spear thrust to the neck for example, but if you talk about walking to a horse and initiating a fisticuffs its insanity to assume you could beat a horse, with average adult male strength their is no way he could do enough damage to even daze the horse, he'd just piss it off than get killed. Now if David had Olympic athlete level of physical capabilities he might vaguely stand a chance, but just an average guy? No way. The horse would trample him to death in its anger over having been smacked. David clearly doesn't understand what a horse is, he got a image and idea of a horse, but he doesn't appreciate its a beast that weight between 4 and 10 times his weight... alot of that in muscles. If it clip him with a hoof he is going down, than after that he is dead because the horse is going to trample him furiously after he is on the ground. Seriously, he might as well have claimed he could take down a bear, you would claim to be able to beat a bear with your bare hands, but frankly it would be comparable in difficulty, the bear is more flexible but weaker than a horse mostly, sure it got sharp claws, but the slashing force of the claws is inferior to the blunt force of the hoof, sure the bear can gut you, but the horse will crush all the bones and squish all the organs it trample on.

@@lydiahood7725 true, it would be much easier to fight a bear than to fight a horse. bears are smart and pretty strong, but not so far out from a human that a human could not wrestle a bear and win. a horse, on the other hand, is a lump of pure muscle that does not have a sense of morality and will not hesitate whatsoever to run you over.

David should kill a horse, on a could/will/should, Moral Level. But it's truly tragic to say I don't think he could win without at least some kind of spear and luck. Horses are filled with rage and fear from birth, and instinctively know how to kill. People give them too much credit for being "herbivores", (as much as any animal is, there's truly few that aren't just flexitarian-) but that doesn't preclude them having a violent nature. Having lived on a farm with horses and chickens, seeing some decide that its time to exterminate the chickens every few weeks was pretty horrifying. I never saw them go around eating any, but I have fond memories of fighting them off with a hose with pressure nozzle because they were trying to stomp baby chicks, and being well aware it was only the inconvience of being wet and fear of my witchcraft that kept them at bay. If you've ever seen a pack of horses gallop around the farm because they got startled by something- It's very clear, they can and will win the speed game, cavalry was a thing for a reason. I think David COULD win against a horse, but they would need a gladiator training regime, complete with spear handling and perhaps some skill with a bola for good measure first. We should start a crowdfund for that!

Addendum: It's difficult to say WHY they wanted to kill them. It certainly wasn't hunger, because we fed them well, and it wasn't isolated to when the chickens were being fed. Their ire was specifically for the chicks, for some reason... I was doing this somewhere between 12-14 years old, so my parents didn't really take me seriously when I was upset, and I was the only one who took care of the animals aside from milking cows. I was too brave/stupid to leave the chickens to their fate, and too desperate to stop the horses to get any video evidence, and the barns were far enough from the house that noone could hear me crying and screaming. Sometimes the cows would intercede by coming over and standing between us. Cows are better creatures, truly...

Late to the party, but - I'll never not be astonished by the ability of dudes on the Internet to overestimate their fighting prowess. It takes several wolves to bring down a horse. They rarely try, and if they're hungry and desperate enough, some of the wolves are *certain* to get injured. A single wolf can kill an unarmed adult human in a matter of seconds. And the "look at all those weak spots on horses!" thing is very funny, but... to a horse, pretty much EVERY spot on a human body is a weak spot. I've been kicked by a horse that wasn't being aggressive, it just wanted to gently get me to leave it alone. It happened almost faster than I could see, and knocked me flat on the ground. If it kicked me with aggressive intent, I'm pretty sure it would break bones (plural) wherever the hoof landed. Does David think horses are somehow unaware that they can be injured, and do nothing to protect themselves?
