Hi James. Please could you leave your colour selector on colour wheel instead of the light, contrast, saturation bars to make it easier for those of us who just approximate the colours as apposed to using the hexadecimal codes? Love the artwork and am looking forward to giving this a whirl very soon Thanks Paul

James I’ve been watching your channel and videos for several years now. I’ve been away the past year and just jumped on to catch myself up. Sir, bravo! Also, thank you! Hands down one of the best procreate tutorial channels I’ve come across. Your ability to break the steps down truly is incredible. Thank you for allowing people who want to create and may have spent all of their money on the iPad the ability to learn more with your free courses! Greatly appreciate.

I finished the pumpkin! I got Procreate about a year ago, tried to watch tutorials but couldn't get into it. Your video showed up in the sidebar with "draw this!" beside another video saying "made easy", with beautiful art in the thumbnail, so I had to check it out. And while it took me a bit of time to get used to the program and adjusting the settings, your step-by-step instructions were perfect. I really appreciate you often reminding viewers what the brush settings are, and being very clear about what you're doing and why. Amazing tutorial. I'm checking out your other videos and I've subscribed!! Thank you!! :)

Such an iconic part of Halloween, the humble Jack O'Lantern. I had the idea that this was an undead thing of Halloween's past, but after finishing it I saw that it could just be a pumpkin in the dark and spooky. I liked the duality of it. I took extra time with the mist/fog. Still working on such "organic" shapes with natural movement and curves. I ended up pleased with the results. It's been a big hit with the family!

Truly enjoyed watching this tutorial. Thank you! From around 21:00. For those that are worried to mess up the erasing part. Alternatively you can set up a masking layer, set the brush to black and paint in the black colour onto the masking layer. This "erases" the strokes but in a non-destructive way. And if anything goes wrong and you don't like what you "erased", paint it back in in white. (Especially with the mouth piece at 21:45 it could come in handy). And then, once you're happy, merge down the masking layer with the one below. 😊
@JamesJulier-Artist Жыл бұрын
Yeah I totally agree, it slipped my mind to do this as it felt like a simple step to me, my bad. However I also think you don’t get second chances with a real pumpkin lol and those wonky imperfections are kinda what makes it look more authentic, too much refinement in this case will move it away from that look in this case. Appreciate the comment you are probably right though for most people.
@Roboto-chan_1402 Жыл бұрын
Yes, totally appreciate that everyone works differently. It wasn't meant as a criticism - my apologies if it came across as such. It was really meant for those among us that may still be a bit "timid" (for lack of a better wording) to just go in there and erase. 😅 As said, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Amazing hiw versatile Proceeate is, even with its default features! Have a fab day and look forward to your next video tut. 😊

Cool video . I am interested in digital art yet have no computer tech experience. How difficult is it to learn procreate? Also could I upload a drawing and turn it digital by working and refining it in procreate? For instance I want to make some t shirt designs. I hqve drawings that would need to be vectorized and cleaned up. Could I bypass all of that by uploading to procreate and finishing it there? And hqve all the abilities to manipulate and create symetry ? Any help would be appreciated.

It is so awesome but I am still struggling at 7:15 where you added layer 4 then go back to layer 3. Go to the selection and click automatic then tap in one of the areas. My canvas filled out with different color and the pumpkin disappeared. So it seems like I am missing between go back to layer 3 and the selection.

Hi James, thank you for this tutorial. However, how on earth did you set your blank canvas to landscape? The default A4 canvas is set up in portrait orientation, and I can't for the life in me get Procreate to change that to landscape. The "flip canvas horizontal or vertical" option, doesn't change the orientation, but only gives you a mirror image. How did you set the blank canvas to landscape. Please share.
@JamesJulier-Artist Жыл бұрын
You simply open the canvas and then turn it on its side, when you close it, it saves in the landscape orientation
