Great analysis of those three silver screen serial killers, with many references to other features and influences. As I listened to your thoughts on Von Trier's film, Michael Powell's Peeping Tom came to mind. Comprising all the elements of Hans Beckett and Norman Bates, yet delivered in the Eastmancolor tinted Soho of the late 1950's. Equally dark, atmospheric and deeply unsettling. Highly controversial on release as well.
