That two different people did Gollum impressions? All I know is this is gonna be one of those videos I rewatch a lot.

I remember reading MacBeth in high school. We all had to read it out loud as a class, with each of us given specific roles, and I remember thinking that everyone was reading their lines so blankly and disinterestedly that I may as well put effort into reading my lines. Halfway through reading a monologue, I realized, "Oh no, I'm reading this in a fake Scottish accent" and I was worried because it is very easy to sound ridiculous if your fake Scottish accent isn't any good. I kept going anyway, and, at the end of the class, the teacher said, "That's all the time we have for today; we'll pick that up next class. Best Scottish accent I've ever heard in this classroom; better than the ones in the movie" and I felt a great amount of relief.

If you can find a performance, ALWAYS watch Shakespeare before reading it. That's how it was meant to be done. And the acting helps you make sense of the outdated language. Joel Cohen (one of the Cohen Brothers) made a version last year. Don't know if its good, but probably is.

@@Sam_on_KZbin So true. When I was assigned to read Shakespeare in high school I always had trouble deciphering the language and expressions and had to search for simplified versions of his works. @@ldive To understand as fully as you can, it helps to watch a modern version first so you understand the story. Then a really good performance to get the details. Then an original pronounciation version so you can get the rhymes and puns that have been lost to time. But nobody's got time for that, so do what you can. For his audience at the time, all of those were the same thing and it was quite understandable the first time you see it.

This was amazing! I'm glad I finally got the chance to watch the end of it. I hope they do something like this again one day; this was fun. I love how the chaos just like...adds to the story, somehow. With Red as Macbeth being all like 'I'm surrounded by fools' and Blue as Macduff being like 'what has Scotland come to' XD But yes, quite enjoyed it. So many hilarious moments by everyone, and I honestly just legit enjoying the play as well. I had the full text pulled up in another window to the side so that I could follow along. It was a great time 😅

Indigo's hesitance every time she was about to intro Lady MacBeth was the exact opposite of what I felt. Then again, I got to watch and enjoy the chaos rather than having to keep it going in spite of it. XD

So my mother sometimes watches OSP with me, and she’s a bit of a Shakespeare nerd. When the two of us were having coffee this morning, I told her about this reading, and explained the concept of “Red and Blue play it serious, and everyone else has free reign.” When she asked which roles Red and Blue took, I told her, “Macbeth, and Macduff.” She gave me a puzzled look, and said, “I though Blue was supposed to play it straight? Macduff isn’t in the play, is he?!” And I told her, “Yeah, he is! You should know this! He’s the “No Man of Woman born” guy!” At which point, my mom burst out laughing. Turns out, in her uncaffienated brain, she’d muddled Macduff with MacGruff the Crime Dog! 😂 Though, to be fair, that version would absolutely fit in with how bananas the rest of the reading is!

This was nothing short of brilliant. I know these must take so much work, but I'd be overjoyed if this was a regular thing. Tim is absolutely on fire from start to finish. I've no idea how Red kept it together. Also, that scene with tiny Indigo and Jocat giving her the tiny sword reminds me of that vine. "How old are you, boy?" "I am three, papa." "Take this knife. Go hunt bear."

Fun Fact! There was indeed a King Duncan of Scotland, and a Macbeth who usurped Duncan, and was then, in turn, killed by one of Duncan's heirs. _Edit:_ Siward was also a real Earl of Northumberland. This all happened during the 9th or 10th century … I wanna say during the reign of King Æthelred Unread of England, but it's been a while since The British History Podcast episode covering that period. I do remember that Duncan's death came at a Really Bad Time, as Duncan was an ally to England, and something going on in England that required assistance from Scotland. Anyway, you can probably find the real time period in Wikipedia. _Edit:_ it wasn't during the reign of Æthelred Unread, but during the reign of King Edward the Confessor, who was a weak king for several reasons. That alone caused some instability in England, but it was made much worse by the powerful Godwin family's feud with King Edward. Also? It looks like Malcolm killed Macbeth 12 years before William the Bastard invaded and seized the English crown. BTW: "Unread" means "badly advised", and Æthelred definitely had really, really sh1tty advisors and confidants. But Æthelred was a real Hot Mess himself. And "confessor" refers to a specific kind of saint. (King Edward was declared a Saint some time in the centuries after his death.) Also: Northumberland was a pretty nasty place to rule. Lots of killing to move your way up. So the real Siward had to be tough as nails. For a really great source of all of this information, I recommend "The British History Podcast". It's really, really good. It'd be really awesome if OSP and TBHP could do a collab!

they were all also cousins and Duncan was a cousin of a cousin that murdered Macbeth's father for the throne. Macbeth was just so late to avenge his father that the right cousin died already and Duncan was his heir. The heir of Duncan that killed Macbeth was also Macbeth's cousin as well. i think also Duncan's cousin but we werent sure. either way Macbeth got a bad rep when he was apparently acting like every other lord back then.
