I don't typically like slasher movies, which is why I think I enjoyed this one so much. The slasher aspect wasn't the point; it was the conflict between Michael and Laurie. The story is simple but effective; Michael didn't kill her the first time and is driven to do so. Laurie survived Michael's last assault but can't rest knowing he's still out there. The town was the back drop to this conflict. That's it. Simple but effective. This was a character driven story, rather than one driven by narrative. We see how the sheriff regrets not letting lumis finish michael off. We see Michael's current psychiatrist desperate to give the decades of his life meaning, by living through Micheal. Ultimately he fails, and that's pretty funny. The most impressive aspect of this movie was the technical work though. Sound design was incredibly effective. The shots in this film were elegant to a frightening degree. Even when you had an idea of what was going to happen, the camera placement was so believable you would fall for red herrings you KNEW were red herrings. I think there was a lot to like in this movie. If you're showing up JUST hoping for a slasher movie though, you may be disappointed. They don't dig into the kills. Michael does his thing, and half the time you only see the aftermath. I think that's more effective but if you really want to see the process, you'll be disappointed. If you like the original Halloween, you'll probably love this one.

@INFINITE 2020 I honestly dont like the sibling aspect of 2. And i do know Carpenter also didnt like it aswell, but he needed a way to reunite michael, Laurie and Loomis and knew no other way. It took away the scary element of Michael. His randomness is gone. The only reason why the second movie isnt included in the new timeline is just because of this sibling thing. The first part and the end chase of the 1981 movie is very great though. Do you know michael started stalking Laurie because she was the first person he saw when she dropped the key at his former home? And not because she was his sister?

I really liked when the tables turned at the end when she disappeared when Mike looked down and then when she popped out of the shadows. That was pretty dope. Maybe if they had her stalk him for him a minute before “killing” him that would’ve elevated the movie a little more. I still thought it was a solid movie. I give it a 7.5-8/10

The switch up that u suggested they do was basically what they did, since this is a sequel to the 1978 movie, the switch up came when she fell from the house. The shooting him in the shoulder was a setup to get him in the basement so they can trap him & burn him. Everything that looked like it wasn’t supposed to happen in regards to the killing was supposed to happen, it was Lori’s way of hunting him to trap him to burn him alive, however that last shot of the basement with no body does set it up for another movie.

Michael didn't kill the baby that was in the lady's house, surprising but nice. The kid babysitting kid getting away, comedy gold. He literally said you'll die if you go up there. The doctor switching sides, unexpected. The end showed that this was Jamie lee curtis plan, fantastic. I think she planned everything that happened in that house. Why else would she have mannequins just chilling in the bedroom. I do think they could have worked the killer a little bit more, like drop a bomb in the basement, but the plan seemed solid. For me 3 saxophones out of 5, because Jamies family was useless for 80% of the movie.

I prefer the Laurie Strode from Halloween H20. It was much more believable. After surviving Michael Myers she moved to the other side of the country, got a new identity, got some therapy & got on with her life.
