The book version of Frankenstein's monster teaching English class, Especially if we cover Paradise lost. Mainly because unlike in the movie, he is very intelligent and well read. He would also have a unique perspective on things.

Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School did this concept so much better. The difference was that the Headmistress of a school of girl monsters hired a human gym teacher (Shaggy) to coach them on how to do better at sports. Do Better Disney!!! Even Warner Brothers and Hanna Barrbara are showing you better concepts!

If they needed to have Grandma Aggie teaching a science class, why not make it chemistry? I mean it’s extremely close to potion making and you still would get to use a flame to boil liquids and just say that a tiny cauldron is just a fun little teaching tool she likes to use because she loves the holiday Halloween. Nothing too suspicious there and we would get to see her perform some magic under the perfectly believable guise of chemistry.

What I mean is she has her potion making ingredients in powdered or liquid form and says what they are and the humans just think she’s just kidding as these ingredients look like ordinary chemistry materials. And the poison she could justify as being mercury or some sort of other chemical that is actually poisonous but commonly used in a chemistry lab

To be fair, the werewolves in Twilight were part of Native American tribe and they turned because vampires showed up in their town. Their in-universe reason for existing is to protect their tribe (apparently colonizers get a pass) from vampires. The actual plot reasons for them existing is so that Stephenie Meyers’ self insert is protected and her precious vampires have allies and won’t get hurt by other Bad vampires. There’s a reason why Stephenie Meyers was sued by the by the actual Quilieute tribe and that the only one of the actors who has actually tried to help the tribe was Native American Julia Jones.

Even Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular does this better. They have vampire characters, and they straight up say "Vampires drink human blood." They don't try to hide it. They don't say "we only drink as a last resort" or say they've starved themselves to be considerate. Nope, vampires drink human blood, and the main human character Hannah is STILL friends with the vampire kid and his family. The other characters are a little uncomfortable with it, sure, but nobody tries to stop them from being what they are. Gonna be honest and say that example also isn't perfect, but it does that one thing much better than these 4 movies.

This is the third movie in the series. Wouldn't it make more sense for Marnie to be a talented witch at this point? Several years have passed, she's been really enthusiastic about being a witch from the start, and she has a very gifted teacher to show her the ropes. Given her personality, it feels like she would have really thrown herself into her magical studies after the events of the first movie. Plus, showing her improve her abilities throughout the story would have been a good story decision. Why/How is she still Level 1?

Wait till you get to the last one. Marnie gets accepted into a witch university is Halloweentown cause shes the "greatest hero" but the students arent allowed to use magic....huh? A university for peoeple who can use magic, but aren't allowed to even use it, only learning it history and Shakespeare for some reason. Thats like getting a sports scholarship, but the school is not letting you play the sport, and makes you learn it's history.

But to put an entire blanket ban on magic at all, in a magic school, is really freaking stupid. ....The brother and that troll girl's last-minute "Eww on second thought you have cooties, let's just be friends" thing baffles me. I'm the last person in the world who's going to object to kids' movies showing that boys and girls can just be friends-- even if they're otherwise romantically compatible-- but this just feels like it came out of nowhere??? That sort of reaction belongs at the end of a subplot about two kids who feel as if they HAVE to like each other just because they're a teenage boy and a teenage girl and they have a lot in common. Where neither of them feels that way about each other, but they think they have to fake it due to social pressure. But these two have been acting like they have a mutual crush going on for the whole movie! What, did the writers think the scene needed a punchline? Or are they leaning into the stereotype that smart people are always allergic to emotions?

I’ve recently come to realize that there is another DCom female protagonist of another series of movies based on horror movie monsters that is just as annoying and unsympathetic as Marnie: Addison from the ZOMBIES series. Think about it for a minute. Both are white privileged whiny annoying teenagers that are half human and half supernatural being that live in big houses and complain about wanting to be “special” or “fit in” and interfere with the problems of those they don’t have any real relations with or know what they’ve been going through and insist on saving the day to fuel their oversized egos, both have girls (Sophie and Eliza) that actually want to help save the day because they want to help others for altruistic and selfless reasons but are often ignored and pushed to the side, both have grandmas that have names that start with A and end in -gie and are only five letters long and only one letter is different in the names and they are fully supernatural beings, and both series have werewolves in them at some point. That is way too many coincidences and we all should be very concerned that a ZOMBIES four could potentially happen and make that series the next Halloweentown

Here's an idea: Why not have the Knights remain and go underground through the years to make sure the Halloweentown creatures don't return or remain? Perhaps their numbers could wane until 1939, when an Austrian warlock got some ancient Cromwell relics and sacrificed many so they could work, causing more people to flock to them in secret? Maybe have them say that the magic users they've seen were threats to humans and work to eliminate or banish magic users until a female Knight were to see Dylan and spy on him, only to fall in love with him and see that magic users and Halloweentown isn't that bad?

As a practitioner of martial arts since I was 19 (I'm currently 31) even though I'm now wheelchair bound, I think it's awesome that the actress that played Sophie took an interest in and devoted her talents and efforts to martial arts, which she is clearly very good at! I've always believed that martial arts are one of many great ways to improve one's life and being, so it's really cool to see people reach such high levels of capability through devotion and training.

I remember relating to Marnie hard bc witchy powers sounded cool af. The title now feels super misleading considering we never see Halloweentown at all, it’s just another DCOM high school story with occasional magic. It would’ve cost more but I would’ve rather saw a group of random mortals get sent to Halloweentown High with Marnie having to help them since she knew the mortal ways. At least we would’ve gotten an ACTUAL high school in Halloweentown 💀 Great video! I wish more people reviewed these movies

Teachers in highschool and college specialize in a specific field of study that they teach to the students. Teacher is hired because they specialize in math. Etc, etc. You can't just swap a teacher who teaches a specific field to have them teach another field just like that! They're going to have no idea what they're doing! Unless the teacher is knowledgeable in multiple different fields of study.

Sophie was seen a few times in this movie! It's actually my fave of the series! The fourth movie is great as well! But, I think they fired Kimberly, and replaced her with Sara paxton Sara did a great job, by the way! I know not many people agree! Kimberly, Debbie, and Judith are all amazing actresses as well!

This movie started on my background tv halfway through my watching this review. At least Finn Wittrock had a good career after this. One thing that has always bothered me about this movie is how much they messed up Marnie's character. Marnie has been shown to be a one-woman witch pride parade who chafed under having to hide herself, so much so she wanted to move to HT for a time-dilated year. She should be jumping at the gift-wrapped chance to "come out" to her classmates. She should also have jumped at the chance to room with Cassie, a witch her own age who's basically lived the life Marnie always wanted. Hotel Transylvania did this storyline better.

You know, your little speech at the end about the movie's monsters is actually why I have a slight problem with the "Hotel Transylvania" series. The monsters are anything but monsters; they are made out to be too nice and the people that are afraid of them are 100% in the wrong. There's no nuance or middle ground, the messaging is simply far too watered-down.

You're definitely not gonna like "Return to Halloweentown," because Sophie is absent from the movie. And it's also a precursor to the "Descendants" movies (or at least it feels like it because many plot points of the movie were later copied into Descendants).

I was ten that movie came out so I actually have a little more nostalgia for that than the other Halloweentown movies. Marnie’s also played by a different actress so I was surprised when looking at the previous how different she looked between then and Return. From what I can remember, Marnie is a lot less obnoxious in that one and her decisions were a little less stupid. Her boyfriend somehow faking magic is stupid though.

Even as a kid I never liked these movies, but it wasn't until finding your videos that I realized just how awful Marnie is as a character. She might be in the top 5 most unlikable Disney Channel movie protagonists. (But that might depend on how many you've seen.) Also, another thing you didn't point out. This is kinda inevitable with the fact that these characters are aged up since the last two movies, but it's still noticeable. I remember that Sophie in the first two was good at magic. And she seemed to have a lot more imagination than her siblings, due to her age. Whereas the brother was the family skeptic from the very beginning, even when given proof at every turn that magic is real, he still wouldn't accept it. Here, Sophie is aged up considerably from the previous films, but... she seems to have lost all her personality too. Even in the few scenes she's in, she barely has any lines, and just kinda sits around. She doesn't talk about magic or being a witch anymore. So all her likeable character traits are now lost, along with just being dropped from the series entirely before the end of the movie. Of course, there might have been a schedule issue involved. Maybe she didn't have time to do as many scenes so they had to cut her involvement in the plot. And maybe they just couldn't find a place for her in the fourth movie either, since that one is about Marnie going to college, and it'd be kinda difficult to involve her siblings in that kinda plot. But it's still noticeable just from a writing standpoint that all of Sophie's powers and personality are erased before she's even dropped as a character.

Wow! These two scenes (20:55 to 21:33 ) just feels like no One was Paying attention on the Editing Table! Both of these scenes feel so Out of place! They should’ve been cut from one another in order to help ease the story’s flow, but now it’s like someone couldn’t make up their minds about Either! No wonder why this movie was so dumb!

This is so similar to Lissi Harrison's "Monster High" novels, although the creator of that series says he doesn't consider it canon. But this is still a better "Monster High" movie. Hell, "Wednesday" is better than what Nickelodeon did to MH.
