I've been lucky enough to experience this prototype copy of Halls of Hengra courtesy of Tompet Games. An awesome game with some unique mechanics, it may be the best solo experience I've had for a very long time! It's on Kickstarter now and deserves maximum support 😊👍

The best solo experience? Really?
@soloboardgaming2 жыл бұрын
@@ConstantineManikas Hi Constantine, thank you for visiting. Yes, in fact in my video I think I say 'one of the best solo experiences for a long time.' It's a brilliant game with some unique aspects and is incredibly tough so it's certainly way up there for me! If we talk about solo wargames of all time, it would certainly be very high. It's new and exciting for me right now so we'll have to see how it sits next year once we get to review and reconsider the retail version.

Can't believe it has taken me a few days to finally get through all this. Thanks for the video. I've already backed this but do worry that if the game starts off badly that there is little chance of recovering the situation. Guess I could / should try it on Tabletop Sim but don't really enjoy using that.

Hi Colin, Great to hear from you! I would have loved the chance to explore the game further but I've had to pass the game on to another reviewer. Definitely you have to maximise recruitment every chance you get during the first 2 phases (6 turns). If so you'll go far in the game for sure. From then on it's all about making the right decisions as in many such games. It's really tough for sure, and that's what makes it a great game. The cards will also make it different each time with extensive replayability. Now we'll just have to wait for a chance to give it another go! 😊👍

I've not backed one before now either. I don't have much income so can rarely afford it actually. And I know some people have had dissapointments too. I'm glad you had a look, thank you 👍

@@soloboardgaming I hear that. I can't afford to go down the kickstarter rabbithole, as my gaming budget is limited, and a lot of the games on my wishlist are pricey enough as it is. Having gotten back into wargames and the like this past year, I am constantly having to make decisions... decisions that you and some other youtubers have helped me with... about what I can and can't get. Not really in a financial position to get buyer's remorse too often lol. Luckily, I don't suffer from FOMO. Keep up the good work

Ive been playing this on Tabletopia and I have to say WOW!!! What a great solo experience. It's really a task to manage everything while still trying to plan ahead. To me the game is a mixture between a states of siege game and RC. Really nice design and once you get familiar with the turn structure it flows very nicely. Still haven't won a game.
@soloboardgaming2 жыл бұрын
I think you have it exactly right when you describe that merging of genres. And yes its incredibly tough just like a Good solo game should be! Really appreciate your time and your feedback, thank you 👍

Thanks for another really splendid introduction and review. This game looks fantastic. Similar, but much more detailed and better than '7 Days of Westerplatte' and parts of it remind me of the 'States of Siege' series originally by Victory Point Games. Again, though, it seems beautifully crafted to suit this particular action. This one is going on my wish list!! :)
