I replaced the UV bulb in my easyclear 6000 yesterday after watching this video and was surprised to find the chamber with the quartz tube in it wet! Should it be wet inside that chamber? Many thanks for the video 👍

Thanks for the video, very helpful. However our pump operates on a little waterfall, which has stopped working. I have followed your instructions and cleaned the unit thoroughly. The motor is working but it still isn't flowing. There is a seal which seems to have stretched, which I will replace if I can locate a replacement. Also I cannot tell whether the uv bulb is working or not, is it important? Any other suggestions please?

Thank you - We sell seals here www.gardensite.co.uk/aquatics/hozelock-easyclear-quartz-o-ring-set.htm It is worth changing the UV lamp every 9-12 months, whilst its not critical, the lamp will not be doing an effective job of clearing green water so I would change this if its due. You are welcome to call us on 0121 3557702 to discuss the problem with the water flow, it will be the case of running through a process of elimination to identify the issue, It could be the case that the impellor is worn and needs replacing or as simple as a blockage.

Where the bulb goes, underneath it I've noticed that there has been some water getting in, I'm assuming it's this what is making the pump trip. Do I need a new rubber or completely new pump.

My plastic collar glow for the UV is green not blue/purple, is this just because my water is so pea soupy?

Really good video, my hozelock 6000, keeps tripping out after 3or 4 minutes, does anyone have any advice before buying a new pump, thanks

Unfortunately once the electrics start tripping its usually beyond repair. Either the motor is overheating (not repairable) or water has breached into the electrics. Double check the UV lamp inside for obvious signs of damage or water ingress. Certain seals can be replaced, the quartz glass can be replaced and the lamp can be replaced. If the problem has been resolved the unit can dry out and continue to work. You are best to weigh up the cost of components and the risk that this is money wasted if unresolved vs the cost of a new unit. Opend my easy clear for the first time after 13 months of purchase brand new went to change uv bulb found bit of moist in top bulb protector an a brown stained tingy stained protector so try clean not much use put new bulb in tryed test it with bulb exposed an it dont light up is it had it?? Also hozelock customer service horrendous having no luck on there so called 3 year guarantee any advice

@@DavidCoton I've had the same problem with my 9000, I've just replaced the uv bulb tightened the outer casing and it now keeps tripping but only since I changed the bulb which was yesterday, either I've not tightened it enough or pump is on its way out.

@@ABITOFTHISANDTHAT12 I think your seals for the quartz tube might need cleaning and realignment. Dirt and grime collect and will allow water in. Remove the tube, clean and wash the O rings inspecting for flat spots deformation / damage. Replace damaged seals. Replace and check before reassembling. The tube should be firm and snug with the plastic at the base with the 2 thick o-rings outside the tube one next to the other (double O-Ring water seal).

I have a 9000 easyclear, which keeps tripping and when I open it where the uv bulb is, water seems to be getting inside, I've got the rubbers there which are on the outer casing so don't know how the water is getting in, please help.

There are 2 rubber seals on the quartz tube (looks like an inverted test tube) there is a third seal on the base of the plastic that the quartz tube fits into. Gently slide the quartz tube out of the retaining ring (don't press to hard or you can crack the tube - Wear gloves if unsure) when you remove the tube you will see 2 large rubber washers. Clean and inspect the washers (Replace as needed) clean the tube dry and ressemble 1) Pop the 2 washers into the gap in the retaining ring they need to be clear of the fasteners 2) GENTLY slide the quartz tube through the 2 washers into the retaining ring. Again be gentle. I found a slight twist 1mm clockwise and 1mm anticlockwise worked for me, otherwise use some silicone grease (this is food safe / pond safe). 3) After this inspect the quartz tube you should see both rubber seals gripped on the tube (like 2 rings on a finger) the rings need to be even and undamaged you can see this by looking into the open end of the tube with a torch and a magnifying glass. The tube will feel very firm and the lip of the tube should be flush with the plastic. Replace the UV bulb. You can purchase new rubber gaskets if the ones you have look like they are flattened with age. Finally check the third seal on the plastic retaining ring. To be clear the plastic retaining ring has 2 thick rubber O-rings on the inside and one on the outside. Three in total they provide a barrier for water ingress.
