The fact the he survived 4 grunts with fuel rods but not 5 grunts with plasma pistols is hilarious. That 2001 AI was geeking against 5 grunts but it handled 4 nicely.

Well it makes sense. The plasma is way faster, fuel rod easily dodgeable. I've definitely died way more times to grunts and jackals pistoling me to death. *I'm looking at you ODST* One usually hits you with a charge then the rest pepper your ass 🤣

I feel like Plasma pistols were better back then. Also, fuel rods are slower, so despite being the better weapon in most cases, it has less burst damage.

I am pretty sure every elite from every game will do that. In 2 and 3, they will even do their battle cry and pull out an energy sword. Don't remember exactly in 4 or at all in 5 or Infinite, but CE through Reach they definitely all do

It is not even all the AI, but more of how fast they move and their animations. Reach was faster so the enemies were less vulnerable. CE characters were generally slower in all regards. The one thing though is Reach enemies are all aggressive, so if you get close, they will pretty much always go in for a melee. In CE, they may back up or go in depending on the situation

I think a lot also depends on how much health they have, Kat died immediately for instance whereas 6 took multiple hits before killing the elite. I think it depends on what their health is set to
